The “I Need Water Just Like You” campaign, launched by the Emirates Animal Welfare Society, has witnessed a significant response from the public throughout many various locations. The campaign was launched on Thursday at the society’s headquarters in Al Bahia, Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Emirates Animal Welfare Society, stressed that the campaign falls within the framework of the society’s commitment to spread cultural awareness in regards to animal welfare issues alongside the importance of preserving animal life. He also noted that the one-week nationwide campaign will feature a wide range of activities and events for all age groups and community segments in cooperation with several government entities and departments, and public interest associations.

The campaign will include the distribution of awareness brochures with guidelines and advice on animal care and welfare, in addition to membership applications for those wishing to join the association.

Adding further, Dr. Nasser Al Nuaimi said: “The campaign promotes various recommendations, including providing clean water; reducing hours spent walking; trimming the animal’s fur and hair, and combing it daily; providing a cool environment; and providing the required vaccinations.”

The Chairman of the Emirates Animal Welfare Society urged the public to treat animals humanely and encouraged them to engage in volunteer work related to animal protection. He also encouraged the public to promote positive behaviors towards animals, based on the important role of animals in maintaining the ecological balance.

The campaign coincides with the onset of summer in order to acquaint the public with the proper means of care for animals as the heat of the summer intensifies. The campaign invites the public to sufficiently research about the animal or bird prior to purchasing their pet in order to provide a suitable living environment for them, to provide the best methods of care, and to develop a bond of familiarity with the animal or bird.
