The Mussafah Police Station at the Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation, organized an educational program about means of secure and safe handling of radioactive materials.
"As per the instructions of Colonel Sheikh Mohammad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director of Peripheral Regions Directorate, we coordinated with a delegation of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation regarding the education of Policemen about means of prevention as well as security and safety procedures in handling radioactive materials and sources," said Major Sultan Saeed Al Raisi, Director of Musaffah Station.
"The program included executive and field education workshops in addition to a number of executive plans and mutual coordination mechanisms to guarantee a good performance and achieve our goals. This would guarantee safe and sustainable use of radioactive materials by commercial facilities," he added.
He finally revealed that the program included a theoretical and practicable training of Police members about safety and alarm systems, safety procedures and standard applications where radioactive materials are being handled. He noted that Police forces are considered as the first responder in case of emergency notices in this regard.
