As part of the late Mubarak Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan Snooker Championship being held at the Abu Dhabi Police Officers Club and will continue until March 25th, six matches took place during the first round on Tuesday. The results were as follows:

In the first match, Rashid Al Shakili defeated Shah Nawaz as 3/1, after Al Shakili’s skills allowed him to win three consecutive frames, and earned applause and appraisal from the audience. In another powerful match, Mohammed Al Ghafli defeated Mohammed Hani as 3/2. The two players had equal scores (2-2) when they began the tiebreaker game. But Al Ghafili’s expertise allowed him to defeat Hani in the final frame that determined the outcome.

Gross premiums written (GPW) in the GCC countries had a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21% from 2002 through 2012, the same as Brazil and China, while Russia was at 18% and India at 16%.

According to Brigadier Maktoum Al Shareefi, Director of the Capital Police Directorate, theft of car contents has decreased in Abu Dhabi to 104 thefts in 2013, in comparison to 143 thefts in 2012; a drop of 27%. "This decrease is the result of the Capital Police Directorate’s efforts in fighting crimes, by deploying special task forces assigned to address actions that jeopardize security, and by intensifying police patrols at all times of the day in residential and commercial areas, where policemen vigilantly monitor any attempts of theft.
