MoI Launches Second Phase of Registration for the E-gates Service in Al Ain
357,657 individuals registered at the E-gate

As part of its media campaign to promote the "E-Ports Project”, the Ministry of Interior announced the launch of the second phase of free registration for the e-gate service. The registration process starts as of Sunday in Al Ain Shopping Mall, Al Ain and will continue for two weeks.

 Major General Ahmad Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ and Acting Director General of the Electronic Services at the Ministry of Interior, stated that the total number of individuals registered in the E-Ports has added up to 357,657 individuals, out of which 333,000 have registered at the arrivals hall of Terminal 1 at Abu Dhabi International Airport, since the launch of the process last October. Another 24,657 individuals have registered at the registration centers set up in a number of shopping malls during the first phase of the project.

He also underscored the significant success of the first phase of the project’s media campaign in Abu Dhabi and the high level of turnout for registration in the e-ports, by UAE and GCC nationals,  residents, diplomats, and others who have entered the UAE on a visa, adding up to 24,657 individuals.  He pointed out that in line with the MoI’s keen interest to deliver the service to all community segments; it has been decided to complete the second phase of registration in the e-ports in Al Ain City.

Moreover, he said that registration in the e-gates ensures the speedy processing of passenger entry and exit through Passport Control & Immigration counters. He also noted that the free registration service has attracted all society segments, particularly low-income individuals.

Furthermore, he indicated that the dedicated work team has managed to register up to 1,000 individuals per day. "Since the launch of the project last October, all arrivals to the country are registered on a daily basis at the arrivals hall of Terminal 1 at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

For his part, Major Mohammad Ahmad Al Zaabi, Director of the E-Ports Project at the Ministry of Interior, stated that the registration procedure for the E-ports Project is free of charge. "Applicants are required to bring their original passport. The registration process will take just 20 seconds. The E-gate service allows passengers to complete their procedures within just 15 seconds when they leave the UAE or return.

He also stated the Ministry is currently implementing a media promotional campaign to introduce the project to the public and boost awareness among all family members on the optimal use of E-gates.  The campaign also includes free registration in ports for all society segments, nationals and residents, GCC nationals, and others who have entered the UAE on a visa.

Concluding, he pointed out that the new e-gates allow registration and entry or exit of children from the age of 5 years and above. They are also easy-to-use for disabled people.
