Barbuda a Test – and Opportunity – for Philanthropists
Dubai, United Arab Emirates.-Wednesday, October 25th 2017 [ AETOS Wire ] In the aftermath of the devastating category 5 hurricane Irma, which battered the island of Barbuda in September, the chairman of The James & Maginley Charity and Care Foundation, is calling on philanthropists around the world to help rebuild the Caribbean island. According to chairman E. Casroy James, while the response from donors, volunteers and philanthropists has been overwhelming, more will have to be done. “We have received donations from countries, corporations and individuals. However, we have a long way to go to rebuild Barbuda. While support is generously being offered in numerous ways, financial aid is what is needed most at the moment.” In support of the efforts to rebuild the island, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne, has announced that the cost for citizenship under the National Development Fund (NDF) option has been reduced by half. The Prime Minister’s announcement is aimed at attracting cash to the island to fund the immediate requirements to build Barbuda and relocate the Barbudians – who were evacuated to Antigua after hurricane Irma ripped through their beautiful island – back home. “We are calling on philanthropists around the globe to help raise the necessary revenue to rebuild Barbuda,” added E. Casroy James. “With their support, we undertake to work hard in the weeks and months ahead to ensure the complete restoration of Barbuda.” Contacts Farah Al obaidi Head of Media Relations Tel: +971 4 3298996 Mob: +971 503323158 Email: farah@saharagcc.com Web Site: www.saharagcc.com Permalink : http://aetoswire.com/news/4870/en
