The Social Support Centers Department at the Abu Dhabi General Headquarters has carried out 42 lectures during the month of October, as a part of its commitment to provide preventive services and awareness programs for the various segments of society, and to spread security culture in its areas of competence, to increase security awareness among the public.
Brigadier Najim Abdullah Al Hosani, Head of the Department, emphasized the importance of communicating and interacting with all the segments of society. He stressed the department’s keenness to educate the public, in coordination with the concerned parties, through the various programs and activities. These activities include delivering lectures, participating in various activities and events, spreading education and educating community members about different educational, social and religious topics.
For his part, Colonel Saeed Hamad Al Kaabi, Chief of the Community Affairs Section explained that the lectures were organized by the Social Support Centers in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region and delivered by experts and researchers from the department. The lectures were dedicated to topics of interest for schools such as: the effects of school violence on students; qualities of the ideal student; and excellence and self-confidence. They also tackled social and educational topics that focused on instilling positive values in schools students; supporting their interests to develop their various skills; and providing them with new knowledge and information; in addition to catering to their needs and wishes, and providing them with guidance to deal with the different educational and behavioral problems.
Colonel Al Kaabi also said that some of the lectures were implemented as a part of the “Learn essential lessons before you suffer their consequences” campaign that was launched by the department two years ago, in cooperation with the ICT Department, to warn the youth against falling prey to the misuse of the internet and social media platforms, and to educate them on how to protect themselves against abuse. The campaign also highlights the role of the Social Support Centers in dealing with such cases.
Colonel Al Kaabi also talked about the lectures that were organized in the framework of the “Get to know us” campaign, which acquainted community members with the Social Support Centers Department and the services it provides to the public. The campaign also called upon all segments of society to collaborate and communicate with the department in case they face social problems, stressing that such problems will be handled with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism, by providing amicable solutions to disputes, and offering individual consultations and professional handling of such cases.
