MoI Delegation Participates in the 84th INTERPOL General Assembly in Rwanda
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, November 4th 2015 [ME NewsWire] A delegation representing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) participated in the 84th INTERPOL General Assembly held in Kigali, Capital of Rwanda Republic during 2-5 of November. This year’s meeting is held under the theme “Policing global threats in a dynamic environment.” The UAE delegation was headed by Brigadier Sheikh Sultan Bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police. He presented a paper in which he shed light on criminal aspects of drug promotion and abuse in the UAE, and the police experience in countering drugs. He also pointed out the advanced level of security in the UAE which contributed to registering 0% organized crime. The session witnessed discussions of various topics on the agenda including current challenges facing police authorities worldwide, pressures of security threats of cross-border organized crime such as terrorism, drug dealing, and human trafficking, as well as various forms of cybercrimes. The course was attended by delegates representing their respective countries. It is worth mentioning that the General Assembly confers as the higher administrative authority of the INTERPOL annually. The General Assembly decides on important issues that affect the general policy of the organization, the required resources for international cooperation, work methods, financial affairs and activities’ programs. During this session attended by 640 participants from 190 countries as well as senior law enforcement personnel from 145 countries, the Executive Committee will be nominated and elected of police chiefs and leaders nominated by their respective governments. The UAE delegation included in its membership: Colonel Abdul Wahid Ahmed Al Hammadi, Head of the Interpol Department at the Ministry of Interior; Colonel Abdulaziz Obaidullah, Assistant Director of the Sub-Administration to coordinate national central offices in the Middle East and North Africa Affair; Colonel Mubarak Saeed Al Khaili, Head of the National Central Bureau of the INTERPOL; Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Al Saadi, Director of Department of Wanted Persons, Captain Abdullah Ghlum Khouri, from the Interpol Department at the Ministry of Interior; Captain Suhail Al Afari, from the Sub Department of the Middle East and North Africa at the Interpol Department at the Ministry of Interior; and Lieutenant Ahmad Al Ajmani, Media Affairs Branch Manager at Ajman Police. On a separate note, Brigadier Sheikh Sultan Bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi met with Mireille Ballestrazzi, President of INTERPOL; and Jürgen Stock, INTERPOL Secretary General. During the meeting, both sides discussed means of fostering cooperation and supporting international efforts of countering crime, based on international cooperation and dialogue. These efforts are based on advanced systems in order to adapt with modern changes. Brigadier Sheikh Sultan Bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi also held various joint meetings with senior police chiefs from Asia, Africa, and Europe. He discussed with them aspects of cooperation and coordination, as well as maintaining distinguished and long term relations in order to realize higher international security levels.
