30th Batch of Candidate Students Enroll at the Police College in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, October 9th 2015 [ME NewsWire] The Police College in Abu Dhabi received the 30th batch of recruits. Colonel Saif Ali Al Ketbi, Police College Director greeted the new students upon their arrival, along with several heads of departments, a number of officers and training staff. In his address on this occasion, Colonel Al Ketbi stressed on the police leadership’s commitment to provide the country with competent and well educated national cadre, and equip them with theoretical knowledge, training programs and practical applications, capable of preserving and promoting security. Colonel Al Ketbi also stressed the commitment of the College’s training, academic and administrative staff to exert unrelenting efforts in order to qualify human resources according to the Ministry of Interior’s strategy and the aspirations of the police leadership. “This strategy aims to graduate qualified and highly skilled officers, capable of participating efficiently in serving their communities, in order to promote security and stability across the country,” he noted. Adding further, the Police College Director urged the recruits to comply with the laws and regulations in force at the college and to exert efforts in their academic journey in order to avail the training, practical and theoretical expertise that they will be receiving. Moreover, he called upon them to cooperate with the trainers and to obey orders, wishing all of the students the best of luck in their schooling and training process. Colonel Al Ketbi explained that the academic and training program at the Police College begins with a preparatory semester followed by eight semesters over the course of four and a half years. Moreover, he pointed out that after the first year, students are enrolled in the intermediate stage in order to acquire field skills in the various departments and police stations in Abu Dhabi, followed by an educational stage to acquire police and legal materials. On the same note, he reiterated the importance of full attendance during the study, which allows the student to acquire his Bachelor’s degree in Police Sciences and Criminal Justice by successfully passing the approved program credit weight of at least 139 credits, which include police, legal, legislative and assistance courses. He pointed out that the field application includes the following courses: traffic and patrols, central operations, facilities’ protection, special tasks, and police operations. “The field application is divided into two semesters of up to 36 weeks, during which the candidate will receive main skills related to different aspects of police work,” he concluded.
