The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has called upon individuals wishing to obtain a Police Clearance Certificate, also known as a Certificate of Good Conduct, to take advantage of the cutting-edge, smart services provided through the Ministry’s website: www.moi.gov.ae; and their smartphone application, UAE-MOI.

According to Brigadier Sheikh Mohammed bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director General of Security and Ports Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police, the smart services that the UAE provides through various channels represent a civilized step in the contemporary world. “The UAE Government strives to provide advanced smart services for citizens, residents and visitors alike through quick and easy steps that are accessible wherever they are,” he said.

Adding further, the Director General of Security and Ports Affairs highlighted the MoI’s keenness to strengthen its role and provide its services through skilled and professional national personnel using state-of-the-art equipment and tools. “Through this approach, the UAE is ranked 12th worldwide in the index of reliability of police services; and is ranked first in the fight against organized crime, according to the Global Competitiveness Report 2013-2014 issued by the World Economic Forum,” he said.

“The Ministry's efforts do not stop here, as it endeavors to continue forth with its specialized work teams to pave the way for a bright and successful future by constantly seeking for ways to provide more sophisticated, smart and hassle-free services for citizens, residents and visitors,” he said.  Moreover, he emphasized that the Ministry of Interior’s smart e-services save both time and effort, as these services are available anytime and anywhere. Except in special circumstances that require personal presence, all segments of society may avail these services without having to visit one of the service centers.

The Director General of Security and Ports Affairs said: “By allowing individuals to obtain Police Clearance Certificates through the Ministry of Interior’s application, we seek to reinforce customer satisfaction by simplifying and streamlining the application procedures. The certificates will quickly be granted after verifying the customer’s data in our criminal database in an effort to improve the quality of services provided to customers.”

For his part, Colonel Jamal Habash, Head of the e-Transformation Support Team, pointed out that the Police Clearance Certificates are completed both swiftly and accurately via the Ministry’s website and UAE-MOI smartphone application. “The personnel are working with their full power to meet the applicants’ requests and to help them complete their transactions on time,” he said.

Colonel Habash explained that to apply for the certificate, citizens and residents should provide their Emirate’s ID, and for customers above the age of 18 to ensure that their fingerprints are on file with the Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA). If needed, customers may call the EIDA to speed up the completion of their transactions.

Lt. Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al Shammari, Executive Director of the MoI’s Smart Government Program, stressed over the Ministry’s keenness to implement the directives of the higher leadership to stay current and to provide modern options for their customers. “The Smart Government Program is working non-stop to provide premium services, and to support customers and assist them when needed,” he said.

Al Shimmari added that via submitting applications to receive the certificates through the Ministry’s website or smart application, customers are able to conveniently access the services that reflect the precise and systematic efforts used to develop such services. He referred to the smart and e-transformation of the Ministry of Interior, and emphasized how the changes are driven by the community’s feedback and are centered on the desire to achieve customer satisfaction.

He called upon the public to provide their suggestions by calling 8005000, or emailing 8005000@moi.gov.ae. “The concerned committee will consider the suggestions and feedback, and will use these ideas to further develop and implement the service operations,” he said.

According to Captain Expert Ismail Abdullah Al Karbi, Chief of the Fingerprint Section in the Abu Dhabi Police Forensic Evidence Department, in order to facilitate the receipt of the certificate procedures and full automation of the service, an electronic version of the certificate will be sent to the email provided by the recipient.

For those within the UAE wishing to verify the authenticity of the certificate, recipients may access the Ministry’s website, www.moi.gov.ae, to confirm that the certificate has been issued by the Ministry of Interior.  In order to verify the validity of the certificate, customers should visit the website listed above and choose the option to authenticate the certificate by providing the number listed on the certificate. The Police Clearance Certificate can also be downloaded through the UAE-MOI application via smartphone, or printed via the Ministry’s website.

He also added: “When designing the application and website for the service, the Ministry implemented the ability to send status notifications to the applicants regarding their application, and to acquaint them with the procedures undertaken by the staff and departments of the Ministry. Notifications acknowledging the initialization and completion of the procedures are sent via SMS following the criminal inspection through the relevant databases.”

It is worth noting that applications for electronic Police Clearance Certificates in Arabic cost Dh50, and certificates in English cost Dh100. An additional Dh13 will be charged for the certificate to be delivered by email.
