A delegation from the Crisis and Disaster Management Department at the Directorate General of Central Operations of Abu Dhabi Police visited the Rabdan Academy to review the best educational and training practices. The visit also aims to discuss means of cooperation and exchange of expertise in the field of training, as well as ways to qualify human resources and develop their competencies in the field of crises and disasters.
Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Nasser Al Kindy, Head of the Crisis and Disasters Department at Abu Dhabi Police and head of the visiting delegation, underscored the importance of sharing scientific knowledge between national institutions, so as to achieve the strategic goals. Furthermore, he expressed his hope for such activities to continue, to allow successful exchange of expertise in all areas.
For his part, Dr. Faisal Al Ayyan, CEO of Rabdan Academy welcomed the members of the visiting delegation and briefed them on the achievements made by the Academy at the training and educational levels. “The Academy strives to achieve its vision and goals to provide training and education for staff members of law enforcement and security agencies, as well as entities specialized in emergency, crisis and disaster management, as per the highest international standards,” he pointed out.
On the same note, Lt. Colonel Al Kindi highlighted the major role, functions and duties undertaken by the Crisis and Disaster Management Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ). He also shed the light on the department’s coordination role in ensuring readiness and preparedness of its staff members to handle crises and disasters. In conclusion, Lt. Colonel Al Kindi recommended further visits and training courses between both sides, in order to address the different issues that serve the public interest.
Furthermore, attendees discussed the appropriate means to qualify and train human cadres in the field of crises and disasters management, as well as to spread the concept of business continuity management. They also examined the fundamentals of the training curriculum for Rabdan Academy’s students, to allow them to apply the acquired knowledge practically with the Abu Dhabi Police.
Towards the end of the visit, the delegation toured the various facilities in the Academy’s campus; and both sides exchanged commemorative shields and gifts.
