(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Ministry of Culture and Elementary and Secondary Education of the Republic of Indonesia, PT. Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (Persero)*1, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Office in Jakarta, and Panasonic Corporation announced today that they have conducted “The Borobudur Youth Forum 2015” on June 5-8, 2015 inviting 50 youth participants from Borobudur, Prambanan and across Indonesia. The Forum aimed to increase public awareness about the importance of safeguarding efforts for the World Heritage sites as well as support to the development of sustainable tourism and creative industries for youth groups and local communities. The 4 days youth forum was also designed to share inspirations of creative youth projects and actions related with heritage conservation and sustainable tourism across Indonesia to the youth groups living in the surrounding of World Heritage Sites(Borobudur Temple Compounds and Prambanan Temple Compounds). This initiative was implemented based on the four-way Memorandum of Understanding signed on Oct 9, 2014. ■ Additional donation of LED projectors to illuminate and safefguard Prambanan Temple Compounds World Heritage Site 5 more LED light projectors have been donated to Prambanan Temple Compounds in addition to 16 LED light projectors donated in Dec, 2014 to further boost illumination and safegurding of the World Heritage sites.

The Prambanan Temple Compounds, which consists of a group of Hindu temples with characteristically tall and small turrets, is known as one of the biggest temple complexes in Java. Built in the 9th century during the Hindu period in Indonesia, it was designed as three concentric squares. With over 500 temples, Prambanan Temple Compounds represents not only an architectural and cultural treasure, but also standing as a proof of a significant religious peaceful cohabitation.
