Under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and President Emeritus of the Emirates Strategic Planning Association, the association will be holding its third annual conference on May 18th. The conference will be held under the slogan “Innovation and Happiness Strategies towards 2021” and will take place at the Federal National Council’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
The event was announced at the press conference that was recently held by the Emirates Strategic Planning Association at the Hall of Excellence at the Ministry of Interior’s headquarters. Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, noted that the idea of organizing the conference aims at supporting the UAE’s vision, which endeavors to establish itself as the best country in the world, in terms of education on citizenship, economy, and security, as well as mobilizing efforts of the government, private, national, and community sectors. He praised the higher leadership’s keenness to spread the strategic culture at the countrywide level and to support both public and private sectors in the area of strategic planning.
For his part, Dr Sarhan Al Mouini, Board Member of the Association and Chairman of the Conference’s Organizing Committee said: “In view of the importance of strategic planning for advanced institutions within the public and private sectors, the Emirates Strategic Planning Association was established with the aim of achieving several goals; namely instilling the culture of strategic planning amongst all segments and members of society, especially those entities that are involved in advancing the future of the UAE in the political, economic, social, and cultural aspects; providing technical consultations; and supporting the strategic planning system in the UAE”.
He added that hosting the annual conference at the Federal National Council headquarters supports the implementation of the UAE Vision 2021; which is the comprehensive vision that outlines the pillars of strategy and happiness for the people of the UAE.
Adding further, he explained that an elite group of national figures will take part in the conference and will submit papers that touch on four main topics, namely; happiness according to the vision of the UAE President and will be presented by Ahmed Jumaa Al Zaabi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs; and innovation, which will be presented by Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Police and General Security, Chairman of the Emirates Association for the Talented. The third topic will shed the light on happiness for people with disabilities and will be tackled by Mohamed Mohamed Fadel Al Hameli, Secretary-General of Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs; and the fourth topic will discuss the invention of the first Emirati space probe and will be tackled by Engineer Omran Anwar Sharaf, Director of Space Image Processing and Analysis Department at the Emirates Institution for Advanced Science & Technology (EIAST).

Dr Al Mouini noted that the invitation to attend the conference has been extended to all national officials concerned with the implementation of the “Happiness and Innovation Strategies towards 2021” from both private and public sectors. The invitation aims at mobilizing efforts towards achieving this vision and shedding the light on its significant topics, within the framework of spreading the culture of strategic planning. He also called upon all concerned parties to attend the conference.
Furthermore, he pointed out that the strategic objectives of the association focus on raising awareness and encouraging strategic thinking in the UAE society; strengthening community-based partnership among all segments and institutions of the UAE community, governmental, private, civil, and global institutions; providing advice, training, and distinguished education in all areas of planning, in collaboration with the finest global institutions; providing effective strategic tools to face all challenges, changes, and risks; and supporting the strategic plans of the UAE.
In conclusion, he expressed his hope to achieve the coveted outcomes, with respect to the association’s vision for the foreseeable future, by identifying the gaps between reality and what is planned for the year 2021, in light of the international, regional, and local changes; listening to the views of experts in this field; and highlighting the most important obstacles that may impede the country’s endeavor towards achieving its vision for the year 2021.
