Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, May 10th 2015 [ME NewsWire]
in5, the innovation centre launched by Dubai Internet City (DIC) in 2013, has celebrated its second anniversary with entrepreneurs, developers and technology experts, showcasing its achievements since inception.
Over the past two years, in5 has provided a vibrant community and business ecosystem for entrepreneurs across the tech value chain, providing mentorship, networking, and access to funding and work space to over 200 startups. In addition, in5 has pioneered the UAE’s startup landscape by conducting workshops, training and networking events, and engaging with over 4,000 of the UAE’s technopreneurs, in partnership with industry leaders including Microsoft, Google, Qualcomm and the Young Arab Leaders, among others.
The creation of The Assembly follows a series of initiatives headlined and supported by in5 this year, including drones for good, droidcon, ArabCode and HackaMENA, as well as Decode Dubai, in5’s first hackathon that welcomed over 140 participants from across the region.
With the support of Dubai Internet City and Qualcomm, The Assembly will bring stakeholders of smart communities together to foster assimilation of research and leading edge technology within a Smart Lab located within in5. Innovators will have access to technology and devices to build software around smart and futuristic services, including the Internet of Things, robotics and wearable devices. This initiative will combine the efforts of industries, educational institutions, governments and community innovators to create and provide real solutions to challenges faced by residents.
Commenting, Majed Al Suwaidi said;
“In5 has created a dynamic ecosystem for start-ups and entrepreneurs and has fostered the development of the UAE’s start-up landscape. Today, in5 is home to over 70 of the creative and innovative talent and start-ups in the UAE, and has grown organically to cover different areas of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
“Several initiatives have been supported and spearheaded by in5 this year to pioneer innovation, in line with Dubai and UAE’s Innovation Strategy, and The Assembly will build on this momentum by promoting the development and building of new solutions and technology at in5.”
