ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, April 8th 2015 [ME NewsWire]
The ‘Foreseeing Future Police’ Forum concluded yesterday evening. The forum was organized by the Decision-Making Support Center at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters and took place at the Police Departments Complex in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of an elite group of international experts.
Upon conclusion of the forum, Colonel Dr. Salah Obeid Al Ghoul, Director of the Decision-Making Support Center at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, announced the recommendations reached by the participants.
The forum recommended establishing an organizational unit at the Ministry of Interior that is concerned with analyzing the outlook of all areas and disciplines within the Ministry. The unit would be responsible for drawing connections between relevant studies and research and applying them within the strategic plans of the Ministry. The recommendation was made based on the consensus that the future will call for more integrated processes amongst various institutions in the country, and will not be limited to one entity.
Due to the importance and influence of science in security and other fields, the need for specialists in such fields is paramount. Hence, the second recommendation generated from the forum revolves around the objective to create generations of graduates who are capable of making complicated decisions and generating strategies and plans based off of a scientific basis. To do so, it was decided that the future principles, rules, and mechanisms of institutes and universities – most particularly police institutes and colleges – should be adapted accordingly in order to yield capable graduates.
Forum participants additionally called for the activation of a coordinating committee to be present between the various institutions of the country. In line with the objective to achieve more integrated processes, the coordinating committee would be responsible for developing a harmonious and cohesive plan by extrapolating the relevant and appropriate processes from each institution and using them to weave a stronger network that is more capable of fighting the increasing rates of crime and security challenges.
Participants emphasized their recommendations to analyze the depth of the strategic plans, the development of the strategic plans, and of their ability to combat crime. For a more secure future, participants called for more forward-thinking roles and to link all strategic plans with future scenarios.
