ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, April 6th 2015 [ME NewsWire]
Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) trained citizens in the Al Yahar Region of Al Ain City in the uses of the automatic defibrillator (for cardiopulmonary resuscitation). The public learned of the importance of using the defibrillator and how to use it before the ambulance services arrive in the event of an emergency in a public place.
A team from the Emergency and Public Safety Department provided the trainings on how to perform first aid for people through use of the device. The department introduced the basic principles and important steps of first aid and of CPR; alongside an explanation regarding the device and its various locations through the UAE that were supplied in order for individuals to use before an ambulance arrives.
The Emergency and Public Safety Department has previously installed defibrillators in various locations throughout the UAE, which include a number of malls, institutions, and various other sites.
The defibrillator is used when an individual shows symptoms of a heart attack or circulatory failure (ischemia). Symptoms include fainting, irregular breathing, weak or absent pulse, or absence of any signs of circulatory activity.
