Licensing Department Introduces Services through Smart Apps and “Sahel”

The Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department at Abu Dhabi Police has introduced the uses of the “Sahel” device and the services offered through UAE- MOI, the Ministry of Interior’s App. The department showcased “Sahel” at the Al Hilal Auto Festival, recently held at the Abu Dhabi Corniche, and urged the public to utilize the modern technologies and smart phones to complete their transactions.
At the Festival, the department introduced the attendees to the importance of using the device and to the services of the smart apps. Department staff installed the app onto the phone of some of the attendees’ phones and distributed user manuals.
The exhibition, organized by the Licensing Department as a part of the Festival, displayed the evolution of the number plates, registration cards and drivers licenses. The display attracted visitors who expressed their admiration of the exhibited items and of the valuable information they received about the stages of development, of which correspond with the development of the Abu Dhabi Police.
Brigadier Mohamed Mayouf Al Ketbi, Head of Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, reiterated the keenness about raising the awareness of the customers and introducing them to the services of the department through various events and activities. This also includes providing advice and guidelines, assisting the public in accessing the services through modern technology, and promoting the service index by completing the transactions online.
The attendees of the Al Hilal Festival reviewed the steps of renewing vehicle registrations, paying fines, and how to issue a replacement for a lost or damaged card through “Sahel”. The department staff additionally explained that users only needed to insert the Emirates ID card into the designated slow in order to avail the services and retrieve their traffic file. The “Sahel” device will then show a list of the registered vehicles, and the customer will be able to choose one and finalize the transaction after verifying the technical condition of the vehicle, the insurance documentation, and the payment of the fines. The device then proceeds to deliver the new registration to the owner along with a receipt of the paid amount and a validation sticker for the vehicle.
Warrant Officer Abdul Rahman Al Za’abi, Fatima Al Hosani, and Najah Al Hosani of the Licensing Department answered the questions of the public, introduced the services, and urged the public to leverage the smart apps and “Sahel” to complete their transactions. The attendees of the Al Hilal Festival praised the efforts the department in promoting the services through the apps and “Sahel” and will urge others to utilize the modern technologies available.
The department also showcased the services provided for those with special needs to facilitate their procedures. They addressed the ways staff assist individuals with special needs in completing their transactions with ease.
Colonel Saif Saeed Al Shamesi, Chief of the Cultural and Social Activity Section at the Abu Dhabi Police Clubs and Sports Activities Department, said that the participation of the Abu Dhabi Police comes as a part of its keenness to be involved in various social events to promote the bridges of communication with the public and the police and security authorities. He pointed out that the Abu Dhabi Police Music Band participated in the Festival with a fascinating show of national and traditional musical pieces, while the Clubs and Sports Activities Department showcased classic police patrol cars, which were in service since the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Police in 1957. A photograph exhibition has been organized showing the development of the Abu Dhabi Police from its inception through today.
