The Ministry of Interior (MoI) launched the Distinguished Leadership Competencies Program organized by the Creativity and Leadership Development Center. The program is designed to prepare and develop the promising abilities of the future creative officers at the Ministry. The launch of the second edition of the program reflects the keenness of the MoI to continuously implement quality programs that are centered on enhancing police performance; and to support the bid to maintain excellence in customer services and improve performance indicators.
Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, noted that the promotion and development of human resources in accordance with the best international practices are the Ministry’s top priorities. “Programs like the Distinguished Leadership Competencies Program are pursuant with the strategies of the MoI and the federal government; and embody the vision of the police leadership to dedicate great care and attention to the development of human resources by providing them with ample opportunities for education and knowledge,” he said.
Lt. Colonel Saif Hamid Al Dir’e, Director of the Creativity and Leadership Development Center, highlighted the mechanism in place for selecting the best candidates on the basis of objectivity and regularity. Each candidate will be measured according to their mental abilities and their personal characteristics and inclinations. “The candidates are subject to four developmental axes, which include: enrolling in courses designed within the scope of leadership competencies approved by the Ministry; conducting internal visits and meetings with the leaders of the key sectors within the Ministry in order to learn of the current and prospective projects of each entity; conducting external visits; and participating in relevant seminars and conferences.”
The axes also include taking part in symposia and conferences organized by the MoI and other governmental agencies in order to identify the best applied practices. “In the last axis, the candidate is invited to submit a graduation project in accordance with the strategic challenges and issues of the MoI. They will be employed in positions of leadership and will undertake strategic projects throughout the Ministry,” said Lt. Colonel Al Dir’e.
