ADP Traffic Displays Latest Technical Projects in Yas Exhibition

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, March 9th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police continued to showcase its advanced technological systems during the traffic awareness exhibition held at Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi. The exhibition is part of the Unified GCC Traffic Week and aims to support the operational processes in the area of traffic safety in accordance with the latest international practices.

The systems displayed in the exhibition include the Smart Traffic Systems Center, the Smart Towers Project, the project designed to catch violators of red traffic lights and designated speed limits, and the automated traffic control devices.

Brigadier Khalifa Mohammed Mubarak Al Khaili, Head of the Traffic and Road Safety Engineering Department at the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, noted that the traffic exhibition at Yas Mall aims to shed light on the experiences of Abu Dhabi Traffic in the field of traffic safety and for participants to take advantage of the successful models established for improving road safety and reducing deaths from accidents.

“The exhibition features the latest smart traffic applications and systems that contribute to the development and management of integrated and effective technology solutions that improve the road transport system. The exhibition featured the ‘Tathqeef’ education traffic patrol and various activities including traffic awareness films and the distribution of brochures to raise traffic awareness among visitors,” said Brigadier Al Khaili.

Adding further, the Head of the Traffic and Road Safety Engineering Department pointed out that the events include workshops, lectures, seminars and educational competitions and videos. The exhibits promote positive road behavior in innovative methods that are reflective of reality and shed light on the psychological, physical, and financial effects caused by accidents. They aim to promote interaction and deliver outreach messages in an innovative way.

Furthermore, Brigadier Al Khaili indicated that the exhibition also showcased a damaged car with a quick response code that provides details of the accident when scanned with a smartphone. “The exhibition also included “Shadow Game”, an interactive awareness presentation for the whole family that educates players on how to make the most appropriate decisions as a road user”, he said.

Al Khaili continued by saying that the events also included an “interactive timetable”, a wall that holds the numeric history of achievements realized during the last 10 years. “The exhibition also showcased the smart patrol car, Abu Dhabi Police cars, school bus and car simulators provided by Emirates Driving Company,” he concluded.

The exhibition is accompanied by intensified awareness initiatives on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram in order to broadcast awareness messages and competitions. The exhibition also featured the launch of the “The Decision is Yours” campaign and introduced the “Together” program, launched by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate in 2012 with the aim of enhancing communication with all segments of society through the Internet.

It is noteworthy that the Directorate, through the organization or participation in outreach exhibitions, aims to highlight the positive results achieved by Traffic Week and to limit the negative issues that lead to traffic errors in general. The Directorate actively participates in interactive events and activities that encourage every citizen and resident to assume their responsibilities, as road safety is a societal issue.
