The Legal Affairs Department at the Ministry of Interior hosted the mobile “Culture without Borders” library bus in order to promote a reading culture amongst the personnel of the Ministry. The bus promotes not only reading, but the corresponding intellectual development that follows suit. The mobile library was welcomed with the aim of promoting the precious value of literature.  

Major Turki Saeed Al Dhuhouri, Head of Legislation Division at the Legal Affairs Department at the Ministry, hailed the “Culture without Borders” project and its role in disseminating the culture of reading in society and in shedding light on a prestigious way to boost the cultural image of the UAE.

Major Al Dhuhouri expressed his heartfelt thanks to Rashid Al Qoos, the General Coordinator of the “Culture without Borders” project. Moreover, he congratulated the people responsible for the project that represents a cultural, educational, and humanitarian initiative. “The idea of the library aims to cultivate the Arab individual as a modern being armed with science and knowledge; an idea reminiscent of the ancient cultural heritage of the Arabic world that once inspired all other nations. The affairs of the Arabic world equipped with knowledge, will rise in prominence once again,” he said.

The initiative was commended by a large number of officers, non-commissioned officers, and constables. They also expressed their appreciation for this work which highlights and enhances the prominent cultural stature of the UAE. The project is notable for its ability to draw attention towards an important facet of intellectual development amidst the increasing responsibilities and burdens of life that often leave little to no room for reading.

The mobile library roams the streets of Sharjah and the neighboring areas; and includes hundreds of books displayed and distributed in a way that facilitates ease of grabbing them from the shelves. The bus is additionally equipped with a projector device to display stories, e-books, and reading club news.
