Moreover, the delegation reviewed a set of historical documents dating from the sixteenth until the twentieth century; some of which chronicle the traditional jobs that older generations used to count on for their main source of living, such as hunting and pearl fishery (literally diving or Ghaus); and the basic materials and tools that were used in the ancient boat-building tradition. The documents also chronicle the various treaties and conventions signed by the UAE, the history of the emirates islands; and the evolution witnessed by the UAE with the discovery of oil and the establishment of the Union.
The delegation toured the UAE library, which contains a unique collection of rare books. Towards the end of the visit, members of the delegation met with the officials from the National Archives to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation between both parties.
Major Al Tamimi praised the vital role of the National Archives, which chronicles the country’s renaissance, the history of its founders, and the evolution of life; as a tribute to mark the leaders’ determination towards building a society that enjoys prosperity and stability that would be an incentive for future generations to exert additional efforts to pursue the process of state building.
