Ministries and Authorities Review Security Media Efforts in Following Developments

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, February 15th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

Delegations from ministries and governmental authorities reviewed the efforts and objectives of Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior in regards to keeping up with events. The delegations included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Community Development, the Federal Demographic Structure Council (FDSC) and the Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA).

Colonel Saeed Al Khajah, Deputy Director of the Security Media Department, welcomed the visiting delegations. He pointed out that the Security Media Department is the governmental communication arm of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and of the Abu Dhabi Police. The department is responsible for deploying the media discourse of the ministry and to quickly and objectively communicate the message with the public. The department also raises public awareness regarding sense of security and public safety, and additionally fosters positive behavior, national pride, and community partnership alongside other social and humanitarian objectives.

Captain Abdul Muttalib Mohammad Al Hammadi, Head of Media Studies and Security Coordination Section at the Security Media Department, reviewed the tasks in the preparation and analysis of the results of media studies and research. The gathered results assist in enhancing the performance of the Security Media, in measuring the results of campaigns, and in conducting further studies and research regarding media developments. The section also monitors the publications and designs of the MoI and Abu Dhabi Police publications in accordance with the best international standards, and creates advertisements based on modern methods to be published in newspapers and magazines.

“The section additionally conducts campaigns related to media, marketing, traffic, awareness, community, and security,” Captain Al Hammadi explained. “The section also updates data, publishes media materials on the Internet and other social media channels of the MoI and Abu Dhabi Police, designs new websites, and creates social media pages.”

Alia Al Rumaithi, Radio Branch Manager, delivered a presentation regarding the duties of the branch in coordinating with radio stations within the UAE to broadcast news that strengthen public security awareness. The branch also works with live programs to intensify media coverage regarding events, and to produce and broadcast advertisements and awareness programs. The branch also provides audio commentary on films, follows-up with radio production processes in order to guarantee its quality, communicates with live-broadcast programs, and coordinates responses for complaints and suggestions.

“The Security Media Department keeps pace with the most recent developments in the communication field,” she said. She also said that the radio studio was established in late 2010. “It features advanced and modern equipment to record police newsletters, auditory material, and other radio-related content.”

Joyce Bou Sader, TV Branch Manager, reviewed the efforts of the branch in coordinating with TV channels to broadcast news reports that represent the strategy of the MoI and Abu Dhabi Police. The branch also works to strengthen public awareness, and to provide TV coverage of the campaigns that the Abu Dhabi Police organizes or sponsors.

She also explained that the TV branch is currently documenting all of the department’s television works and activities, and is developing methods to highlight the efforts of the MoI and Abu Dhabi Police by activating communication channels, developing cooperative relationships with TV channels, and posting these materials to streaming websites.
