TECOM Education Cluster Welcomes High Profile Korean Education Delegation

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, February 8th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

A high profile delegation, which included His Excellency Hwang Woo Yea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, His Excellency Ahn Seongdoo, Consul General, Consulate General of the Republic of Korea, Kim Young Gon, Director General, International Corporation Bureau of the Ministry of Education,  as well as a number of other pivotal figures within Korea’s education sector, recently visited TECOM Education Cluster as part of a regional academic tour to share knowledge, drive sector innovation, and foster partnerships.

Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director of TECOM Education Cluster, introduced Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) and Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV), highlighted its academic partners, international affiliations, and continued best practice in branch campus set-up. He also stressed the significant contributions made by DKV and DIAC training and academic partners in the country’s competitiveness ranking, which was 6 in the world in the higher education and training pillar.

South Korea is home to Incheon Global Campus (IGC), a national project established by the Korean government and Incheon Metropolitan City, with the vision to become the best Global education hub in Northeast Asia. The visit to TECOM Education Cluster provided an important opportunity to strengthen ties, share knowledge, and discuss potential partnerships with Korea’s Ministry of Education.

Commenting on the visit, Dr. Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director of TECOM Education Cluster, said,

“Connecting with nations such as Korea is an important step on the path as we seek to share our educational knowledge and innovative expertise, particularly on how to successfully attract Global transnational education (TNE) students, as well as leading international branch campuses (IBCs).

“International recognition remains the single most important criteria for students when choosing a country and institution, according to the QS World Grad School Tour Survey, so IBCs remain a huge draw for transnational students to any education hub. I very much enjoyed welcoming the delegation, and hope look forward to future knowledge-sharing opportunities of a similar nature in the future.”
