ADP: 190 Recruits Educated About the Dangers of Excessive Speeding

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Friday, January 30th 2015 [ME NewsWire]
A total of 190 new recruits at Abu Dhabi Police attended a traffic-related lecture that tackled the ‘lethal dangers of excessive speeding’. The lecture was recently organized by the Traffic Institute affiliated to the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, in cooperation with the Police Schools Department at Abu Dhabi Police.
Captain Salem Ali Al Ketbi, Training Branch Manager at the Traffic Institute, tackled the dangers of excessive speeding, which is regarded as one of the major contributing factors in dangerous traffic accidents resulting in death, injury and property damage.
Captain Al Ketbi added that driving at high speeds increases the likelihood of traffic accidents; stressing the need for drivers to abide by the designated legal speeds and to be cautious of potential unexpected road surprises. “Some drivers underestimate the risks associated with excessive speeding, which often lead to loss of lives and property damage,” he said.
“Reckless driving is a dangerous offense committed by some motorists, which endangers their life and the lives of other road users,” he added. He also urged drivers to abide by traffic rules; stressing the need to increase traffic safety awareness and to abide by traffic regulations.
In conclusion, Captain Al Ketbi reiterated the keenness of the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate to implementing the traffic safety strategy by focusing on a community outreach methodology, as a key approach to interact with motorists and road users, and to promote the community’s role in the efforts to boost traffic education and curb traffic accidents.
