The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Abu Dhabi Police carried out a successful mock drill to extinguish a “fire” and managed to evacuate its Abi Dhabi headquarters’ building in less than six minutes. Colonel Ibrahim Sultan Al Zaabi, Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), indicated that the drill was carried out in pursuance of the Environment, Health and Safety Management System at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ. Adding further, Colonel Al Zaabi stressed that mock evacuation drills are designed with a view to assess the readiness, preparedness and efficiency of police teams to deal with such incidents. “They are also in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy pertaining to the protection of government buildings from fire hazards”, he said. In conclusion, the Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) reiterated that such drills boost the efficiency of safety and emergency entities in dealing with incidents and emergencies they may encounter. They also aim at assessing the readiness and preparedness of staff members to deal with such incidents.
