The Directorate General of Resources and Support Services organized the first Human Resources Forum for the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Tuesday at Al Etihad Towers. The forum discussed an array of topics pertaining to job satisfaction incentives and indicators and staff members’ functional responsibility to maintain work sustainability and productivity and to instill the concept of loyalty and professional affiliation, as well as integrity and transparency.
Participants at the forum, which was held under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, emphasized that the leadership of the UAE dedicated special attention to developing human resources, in a way that contributes to preserving the national gains and overall renaissance in the UAE.
Leaders of the naturalization sector at the MoI said that the ministry’s approach with respect human resources development and enhancing the efficiency of its staff members form an advanced reference in this field for institutions and authorities seeking excellence in achieving job satisfaction. This can be achieved by providing a stimulating and attractive work environment, that would offer staff members the chance to be innovative and to make distinguished achievements, in a way that helps in improving performance indicators and developing services in general. During the forum, a number of entities presented their experience in the field of human resources, and job satisfaction incentives and indicators that are consistent with the federal government’s vision in this vital field.
Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Police and General Security presented a work paper about “job loyalty and its effects on promoting human resources satisfaction”. He said: “Credibility and transparency are key pillars to enhancing and developing the quality of services. They are also instrumental in addressing disparities and maintaining the work accomplishments.” He identified job loyalty indicators, such as dedication, commitment, regular attendance, love and pride in the workplace and preserving its reputation. Adding further, he noted: “Employees’ dedication and diligence does not expect something in return from superiors. They are required to exert efforts to contribute to the development process.” Lt. General Tamim also pointed the importance of commitment to work hours, which reflects positively on the achievements and services provided.
Furthermore, Lt. General Tamim indicated that employees should be ready to carry out instructions and act in accordance with the interests of the job, by not allowing personal interests to prevail over the interests of the workplace. He reiterated that building affiliation in the workplace is one of the most important factors that contribute to increasing productivity, reinforcing appreciation and love for the workplace, and motivating employees to take pride in their job.
In the same context, Lt. General Tamim highlighted the optimal ways to boosting employee satisfaction by treating employees well and providing them with incentives through rewards, praise and appreciation, as well as caring for innovators and retirees, and taking part in social events with employees. In conclusion, he stressed the importance of cohesion and social solidarity in promoting those aspects in their various forms.
For his part, Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Acting Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony by which he said, “The leadership of the UAE has dedicated significant attention to human resources in various sectors. This measure aims at driving development and renaissance, in response to the vision of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who stipulated the need to providing employees with care, and a stimulating work environment conducive to creativity and innovation, in order to participate in achieving the vision of the ministry and its strategic goals.”
Major General Al Khaili added that the forum is part of the efforts aimed at providing all means to develop human capacities in the Sector, as well as mobilizing and stimulating staff members’ potential. It also reflects the considerable commitment to enhancing job satisfaction, being the major indicator of individual satisfaction and stability and the major factor that leads to achieving psychological security and job stability. This would ultimately reflect positively on job performance in terms of quantity and quality.
Moreover, he noted that the job satisfaction indicator is a relatively critical subject and is closely related to several aspects of employees’ behaviors that would lead to satisfaction with the job and acceptance, which stems from the individual’s interaction with the job and the work environment; in addition to need to satisfying the needs, and ambitions. He also noted that enhancing employees’ confidence, loyalty, and affiliation contributes to increasing efficiency in terms of performance and production. “Such forums provide an opportunity to exchange knowledge, learn, and get acquainted with the distinguished practices enforced by other entities in order to adopt the best of these practices using the benchmarking methodology”.
Adding further, Major General Al Khaili said: “The state of excellence attained by our country in all sectors and areas is inspired by the country’s leadership vision, aimed at making the UAE government one of the best governments in the world. Our distinguished achievements lay huge responsibilities on our shoulders and require us to constantly and diligently seek the best options and most effective means to make excellence possible and attainable”. In conclusion, he considered job satisfaction the main incentive for achieving the desired excellence.
Colonel Mohammed Ali bin Wadeema Al Ameri, Deputy Director General of Resources and Support Services at the Naturalization, Residency, and Ports sector, said: “The various topics and deliberations tackled at the forum are represent a valuable tool to boost job loyalty efforts and the employee satisfaction concept. They are also an opportunity to collect new ideas and suggestions in order to complement the MoI’s efforts to develop human resources’ performance.” He pointed out that the forum’s outputs and recommendations will receive proper attention in a manner that serves the Ministry of Interior’s strategy and plans.
Colonel Al Ameri expressed his thanks to the participating institutions, including the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) for being the platinum sponsor of the forum.
Another work paper was presented by Fatima Al Houti, Director of the Human Resources Department at the Federal Authority for Human Resources. Al Houti talked about the Authority’s experience in applying the job satisfaction program, and highlighted a number of pillars in this aspect. For his part, Jassem Ibrahim Al Hadad, Director of the Human Resources Department at the Ministry of Finance, shared the Ministry of Finance’s experience in the area of human resources. Dr. Abdullah Mohammad Al Shaibeh, Chief of the Personnel Section at the Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA), tackled the EIDA’s experience in the area of human resources.
The audience watched a documentary film about the Naturalization Sector and another film, which showcases the need to enhance integrity and transparency at the workplace and inculcate them in employees.
In conclusion, Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, honored the speakers at the forum in appreciation of their views and ideas that enrich work. Moreover, retirees from the Naturalization and Residency Sector who retired during the past three years were also honored in recognition of their efforts in developing police work.
