MoI to Discuss Drug Prevention in Al Ain Council

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, January 21st 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) will be organizing a third awareness council tomorrow, Thursday in Mufleh Ayed Al Ahbabi’s majlis at his residence located in Al Khabisi region, Al Zafarana neighborhood in Al Ain. The council, held under the title “Impact of Drugs on Youth”, will be moderated by media figure Abdullah Ismail, presenter for Dubai Media.

The Council will address a major issue that impacts society. It will also focus on ways to protect community members, particularly young people, against the dangers of drug use and abuse, which is increasingly becoming a costly burden and a threat to social security.

Also on the council’s agenda, a number of key topics will be discussed, notably the need to protect the youth against substance abuse and addiction, the costly economic impact of drugs, as well as the proper ways to rehabilitate addicts and protect children from drugs, and the relation between the addict and society. The council will also tackle community efforts exerted in order to curtail this scourge, and the effective means and methods to educate people and enhance their awareness about the risks associated with drug use and abuse.

It is worth mentioning that the MoI, represented by the Law Respect Culture Bureau, had launched the first awareness council for 2015 on January 12, in cooperation with the Security Media Department. These year-round councils held across Abu Dhabi discuss a variety of social issues of national, service, and police specificity.
