The Security Media Department, the arm of Government’s communication for the Ministry of Interior and the Abu Dhabi Police, has created and implemented approximately 536,188 different media materials over the course of 2014. This reflects the transparency approach adopted by the Ministry of Interior in dealing with the public and the various media outlets in Arabic, English and Urdu.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Al Khajah, Deputy Director of Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the accomplished media materials were designed to raise community members’ awareness and acquaint them with the services and achievements of the Ministry of Interior. “They were also intended to achieve the confidence of the public and social media users; and boost their awareness about the elements necessary to enhance the sense of security, being partners in the efforts to maintain security and stability,” he added.
Adding further, Lieutenant Colonel Al Khajah said that the Security Media Department is a reference for meaningful, integrated and morally-oriented media. It goes beyond boosting and developing security concepts, to impact community life, in terms of boosting education and awareness using the latest available means.
“The Security Media Department shortened the distance between the public and the Ministry of Interior. It also allowed the exchange of information to and from the ministry’s officials, along with clarifying the stereotypical perception of police officers for citizens, residents and visitors alike, by projecting the image of policemen being an integral part of the community, delegated to protect and maintain it.
Lieutenant Colonel Al Khaja noted that the Security Media Department has obtained the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award for the Best Practice in the area of government communication for three consecutive years, (2010, 2012 and 2014).
