Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, reviewed the efforts of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) in the protection of children against dangers on local and international levels and subsequently highlighted the recent achievements and future objectives in the field. He additionally pointed out the missions of the Higher Committee for Child Protection, and the achievements of the MoI Child Protection Center in addition to the collaborations with various community entities.
“The principles of child protection stem from the hearts of our leaders,” said Major General Al Nuaimi in a discussion panel recently hosted by the Al Bateen Council in Abu Dhabi. He continued, speaking about the importance of education surrounding the many issues of child protection and its large-scale presence in society. He referred to the subject of his doctoral dissertation that focused on the strategies of caring for children, entitled: “Juvenile Delinquency: Criminal Behavior Factors in a Study Group of Delinquents at the Punitive and Correctional establishments in the UAE, and the impact of strategic legislations on their reform process.”
Major General Al Nuaimi additionally highlighted the importance of the relationship between the child and his mother, especially during the first three years of the child’s life. He referred to statistical data that validates reliable indicators regarding the link between the nature of this relationship - as this relationship provides children with feelings of tenderness and safety, it affects a child’s psychological stability and their level of intelligence. He also stressed that there is nothing stronger for a child than to be embraced in the maternal kindness and tenderness that only a mother is capable of giving her child.
It is worth mentioning that Major General Al Nuaimi is also the Chairman of the Higher Committee for Child Protection and the UAE representative at the Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT) for child protection against sexual exploitation and internet crimes.
For his part, His Excellency Jaber Mohammed Al Suwaidi, the General Director of the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi, expressed his hopes to see further discussion panels of the MoI regarding such community services and to further enrich discussions by engaging the public in the contribution of ideas and proposals in advancing development.
Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Salah Obeid Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Bureau, asserted the MoI’s interest in the citizen councils in order to identify their needs and aspirations of the community in a way to contribute to the quality of work, the development of performance, and the protection of society against crimes before an incident should occur. He also praised the commitment of the Al Bateen Council members in attending these educational sessions and fostering social communication in order to preserve the values and traditions of the UAE society.
The discussion panel, which was moderated by media personality Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, producer and presenter of the ‘Khotwa’ show on Abu Dhabi TV, witnessed a presentation of an operetta about child protection. Lecturers also answered the attendees’ inquiries during the discussion.
