Al Sha’far: Flag Day is the Symbol of Pride and Allegiance Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior expressed that the UAE Flag Day is a valuable national occasion that symbolizes the unity of this benevolent homeland. In a statement delivered during Monday’s ceremony held to hoist the flag of the UAE above the building of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), Al Sha’far said, “By raising the UAE flag high, we renew our allegiance to serve our country and the higher leadership, where no sacrifice is too big to make for our country.” The flag raised above the MoI was simultaneously lifted alongside those at federal departments and ministries across the country.
On the third of November, Lt. General Al Sha’far lauded the noble and popular national initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to mark Flag Day and honor the anniversary of the ascension of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan as President of the UAE. “This comprehensive ceremony, attended by officials and members of the public represents a gesture of love, recognition, and loyalty to the homeland. It is a gesture to honor our founding father, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May Allah have mercy upon him) who worked tirelessly to establish and develop the UAE alongside his brothers, the founding fathers, and having exemplified the greatest example of nation building,” said Lt. General Al Sha’far.
The MoI was keen to invite a large number of recruits of the 25th and 26th batches, the male university graduates from the 25th batch, the female university graduates from the 9th batch, and female police officers. Serving as a reminder and source of inspiration for the recruits, and to perhaps inspire new generations, the momentous occasion of raising the flag signifies the pride and prominence of the founding fathers when they had hoisted the UAE flag for the first time – the moment that will forever remain in the minds of generations who take it upon themselves to protect the achievements and sacredness of the country forevermore.
As the Undersecretary at the MoI hoisted the UAE flag, the national colors could be seen gliding solemnly into the air and fluttered to the melodies performed by the Police Music Band as they played the UAE flag music and the national anthem. Members of the Special Security Forces and the Air Wing took also took part in the ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by Major General Mohammed Khalfan Matar Al Rumaithi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police; Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior for Resources and Support Services; Major General Abdul Aziz Maktoum Al Shareefi, Director General of Protective Security at the Ministry of Interior; Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Director General of Finance and Services; Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Human Resources; and Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at the Abu Dhabi Police. Director generals, heads of departments, and a large number of officers, non-commissioned officers, constables, and female officers attended the event.
