Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, adopted the Higher and Executive Committees for the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program to enhance and unify the nation’s pillars of culture, society, and security. These efforts are made in order to nurture future generations to be capable of dealing with challenges and risks.
Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program, highlighted the ministry’s keenness to achieve the visions of His Highness the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. The visions of His Highness are in order to enable students to deal with the challenges and risks that they may face on personal and social levels, and include: developing the program to meet the requirements; staying abreast of the latest developments; achieving goals via creative and innovative methods; and collaborating with institutions concerned with student affairs.
Major General Al Nuaimi highlighted the importance of focusing on strengthening the partnership in the search for the best mechanisms to achieve the goals that serve the students; and to leverage the national security and the preventative and social awareness programs by spreading and disseminating information accordingly.
For his part, Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazina, Commander-In-Chief of Dubai Police and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program, indicated that the police leadership’s adoption of the Higher and Executive Committees for the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program constitutes a genuine breakthrough for the program.
Major General Al Mazina said, “The study of the dimensions of the program has been conducted through tools that include referencing comparisons with similar programs and communicating with the various concerned institutions in the preparation of a national awareness program that addresses students and encompasses all levels of education. This is done in cooperation with governmental and private institutions in order to find solutions for the problems that students face.”
He continued by saying that the comprehensive program covers security, health, and social and cultural issues that relate to the student. It is essential that the proposal is diverse, and invested in and optimized through the best techniques, capabilities, and modern technological means.
Major General Al Mazina added, “During the pre-launch period, the program achieved many accomplishments that include the preparation of a scientific and methodological document for the program with educational and behavioral goals that serve as a reference for scientific materials for the program. More than 50 federal and local entities across the country participated in the preparation of the aforementioned document. The work is underway for the determined programs of these various entities. Their goals and the mechanisms through which the program can be adopted are also being utilized to promote the national documents with the various institutions and to develop a system to identify the extent of benefiting from them.”
During the last period, five student and community initiatives were launched, including: ‘Aqdar for Community Leaders’ in partnership with United Arab Emirates University, and ‘Aqdar for Smart Games’. Within the framework of the last initiative, five outstanding electronic games were launched, which achieved unexpectedly high levels of downloads, and named as the first free downloadable games in some countries.
“Among these initiatives that fall within the framework, ‘Aqdar for Supporting Partnerships’ is underway in order for the various stakeholders to sign the national document for the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program ‘Aqdar’. Another initiative, ‘I Aqdar Smartly’, aims to generally consolidate the programs, events, and activities through a website, while correspondingly introduce students to the national service and to its importance to the nation and its citizens,” said Al Mazina.
In the same context, Colonel Expert Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Al Dabal, General Coordinator of the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program “Aqdar”, highlighted the attention and follow-up of the police leadership for the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program and for their contribution in unifying national awareness and preventive efforts relevant to young people.
