MoI Honors 59 Staff Members for Successfully Passing Environmental Management Specialized Course

The Ministry of Interior hosted a ceremony to honor 59 officers, constables and civilians who have recently obtained the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems Internal Auditor (TPECS) certification.

The ceremony, which was held at the Abu Dhabi Police headquarters, was attended by Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. Also attending were Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Director General of Finance and Services at Abu Dhabi Police, Chairman of the Permanent Green Applications Higher Committee at the Ministry of Interior; Major Bashar Khalil Badran, Head of the results’ standard team at the Permanent Green Applications Higher Committee at the Ministry of Interior; and a number of officers.

Major General Badran emphasized that the graduation of this batch of distinguished staff members, comes in response to the directives of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. “It also embodies His Highness’ keenness to implement the environment sustainability, health and occupational safety systems, which reflect the police’s sense of responsibility towards environmental sustainability,” noted Major General Badran.

 Adding further, Chairman of the Permanent Green Applications Higher Committee at the Ministry of Interior underscored the Ministry’s commitment to delivering its services in a safe and environmentally-responsible manner. “It also strives to ensure the health, safety and welfare of its employees and customers, and reduce the negative impacts of its operations on the environment,” he said. Major General Badran also indicated that the ministry endeavors to be a trendsetter in implementing the best sustainable environmental practices and conducting its operations responsibly, commensurate with its vision and according to the environment, health and occupational safety regulations.

The honorees expressed their heartfelt gratitude and pride for receiving this recognition, emphasizing their keenness to promote and further spread the environment management culture. They also stressed their full commitment to safe behaviors, and the responsible guidelines related to implementing the concepts of green applications. This would improve environmental performance, and reduce the negative impacts of environmental, health and safety-related incidents, as per the best sustainable practices, with a view to enhance the quality of life, in line with the UAE vision 2021, and achieve the UAE’s National Strategy for Green Growth.

It is worth mentioning that the Permanent Green Applications Higher Committee at the Ministry of Interior has recently concluded a course to qualify 59 staff members from the various police GHQs across the UAE, for the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems Internal Auditor (TPECS) certification. This initiative falls in line with the Government’s legislative work and focuses on spreading the environment, health and safety culture, and raising awareness of staff members about the importance of protecting the environment and abiding by the health and safety standards.
