The Abu Dhabi Police Operations Room received 5,907 calls between Sunday afternoon and 1 a.m. Monday. Of these calls, 1,339 were traffic reports mainly regarding the changing weather conditions throughout Abu Dhabi.
In the event of extreme weather conditions, Lt. Colonel Mohsen Saleh Al Yafe'i, Deputy Head of the Operations Department at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, urged motorists to support the traffic safety initiative that was launched by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police in collaboration with the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
In order to maintain the safety of drivers and road users, Lt. Colonel Al Yafe'i also advised drivers to exercise caution, to drive carefully and to reduce speeds in conditions of rain, fog, and strong winds that carry dust.
