As many as 33,700 travelers have crossed the Ghuwaifat Border point during the three days of Eid al Fitr, according to the latest official statistics.
Colonel Khamis Musabbah Al Marar, Director of Ports and Airports Security at the Directorate General for Security and Ports Affairs in Abu Dhabi Police GHQ stated that the number of transactions in this period totaled 23,730 arrivals, while the number of departing individuals amounted to 10,000. He noted that the number of personnel at the border point has been increased during the Eid holiday to cater to the needs of the large number of travelers during events and holidays. He also indicated that the UAE has become a preferred destination for Gulf nationals and residents of neighboring countries, as well for tourists entering by virtue of entry visas.
Colonel Al Marar also pointed out that the border point offers a wide range of high-end security and humanitarian services for travelers. This is achieved via an integrated work system based on cooperation between the various entities and a qualified work team, with the goal of quickly addressing travelers’ requirements, providing them with all means of comfort and ensuring a quick completion of their travel procedures.
Adding further, Colonel Al Marar said, “The Ghuwaifat Border Point uses state-of-the-art technology in the area of passports and inspection; along with modern electronic gates. The personnel at the Ghuwaifat border point will remain ready at all times to provide such outstanding services to travelers, in line with the strategy and vision of Abu Dhabi Police, aimed at offering the finest policing services.”
For his part, Colonel Ghanem Huraiz Al Mazrouei, Chief of the Passports Section at the Ghuwaifat Border Point stated that the section has increased the number of personnel working on the counters during the Eid holidays, which contributed to the quick completion of travelers’ procedures in a matter of minutes, especially arriving passengers, using high-end state-of-the-art equipment.
Colonel Al Mazrouei also stressed that the Passports Section at Ghuwaifat Border Point will remain ready and prepared to facilitate movement of travelers by land at all times. He also pointed out that the number of Gulf nationals who crossed the border point to spend the three-day Eid holiday in the UAE totaled 14,181, while the number of residents arriving from the GCC countries amounted to 4,307 travelers.
Major Salim Saeed Al Amrei, Chief of the Ghuwaifat Border Point Security Police Section indicated that GCC visitors represented the largest proportion of travelers visiting the UAE. “This indicates that the UAE has become the preferred and attractive travel choice and tourist destination for Gulf nationals and residents in GCC countries in general,” added Major Al Ameri.
He also highlighted that the border point has successfully implemented its preventive measures to address any traffic congestion that may occur due to the high numbers of travelers coming from neighboring countries to spend Eid Al Adha holiday in the UAE. Major Al Ameri also stressed that the border point has provided the finest and fastest services to travelers, contributed effectively to the quick processing of their travel procedures with a view to facilitate the smooth flow of passenger arrivals and departures across the border point, with an active participation of the police and security sectors and partners.
