The Abu Dhabi Police distributed as many as 30,000 Iftar meals to motorists before Itfar during the holy month of Ramadan. This humanitarian initiative was part of the Iftar meals project carried out by the Abu Dhabi Police in collaboration with the Abdul Jalil Al Fahim & Family Endowment.
Lt. Colonel Mubarak Bin Muhairom, Head of Department of Community Police, stressed the keenness of the police to strengthen partnerships with all segments of society. “The initiative to distribute Iftar meals has been carried out by the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, in collaboration with the Abdul Jalil Al Fahim & Family Endowment throughout the holy month of Ramadan each year. It is an expression of social cohesion, which is a feature of UAE society,” he said.
He added, “In collaboration with police patrols, the Community Police Department sent out foot patrols to distribute free Iftar meals to drivers. Meals were also distributed at service stations and traffic intersections, and to individuals arriving and departing through the ports of entry in Al Ain and Al Ghuwaifat in the Western Region; the Community Police Affairs Sections at Abu Dhabi Police stations; and in the external regions of Al Ain and the Western Region. This has made a lasting impression on the drivers who have praised the initiative.”
For his part, Isa bin Abdul Jalil Al Fahim, Secretary General of Abdul Jalil Al Fahim & Family Endowment, noted that the endowment collaborated with the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ during the holy month of Ramadan to distribute Iftar meals daily to motorists in Abu Dhabi. “This initiative aims to raise awareness and urge drivers who are fasting to drive safely,” he said.
