Abu Dhabi Police Prepares a Comprehensive Plan to Ensure Traffic Safety during the Holidays

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, July 25th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

The Abu Dhabi Police, represented by Traffic and Patrols Directorate, is implementing a comprehensive plan to ensure the safety of motorists and road users during Eid al Fitr holidays. This plan includes intensifying traffic patrols on intersections, parks, external highways, and near mosques to organize traffic and prevent traffic congestion. It comes within the “Your Safety” campaign, carried out by the General Directorate of Police Operations.

Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, stated that  police patrols will be intensified at all times of the day on the roads leading up to mosques and prayers areas in order to facilitate the access of worshipers. He added that patrols will be also intensified in public gardens and parks to avoid any traffic jams.

Colonel Hamad Mubarak bin Athath Al Ameri, Head of the Capital’s Traffic Department, Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, indicated that the directorate will increase patrols in areas that witness traffic density during the holidays, especially in prayers areas, parks, and key intersections, as well as near malls that witness heavy numbers of citizens and residents during the holidays.

For his part, Colonel Hamad Nasser Al Bloushi, Head of Peripheral Regions Traffic Department, urged motorists to observe traffic laws and regulations, avoid over-speeding on both internal and external roads, fasten their seatbelts that provide high level of protection in the event of a traffic accident, pay attention to children’s movements inside the vehicle, and place them in the back seat of the car.

Moreover, he urged motorists to be cautious and warned them against leaving their vehicles unlocked in front of prayers yards, while performing the Eid prayers or in front of shopping malls lest they should be exposed to theft. He also advised them to take caution while strolling or visiting relatives and friends and to watch out for children and avoid leaving them alone playing and having fun in the streets.

Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Siaf Al Mazroui, Chief of the External Roads Traffic Section at the Peripheral Regions Traffic Department at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, stated that the section has completed preparations to enhance traffic safety for motorists and the public during the holidays by intensifying traffic patrols, roadsurveillance, and awareness among motorists to reduce traffic accidents and ensure safety throughout the Eid festivities with no accidents.  In conclusion, he wished everyone a happy and peaceful holiday.

Furthermore, Major Matar Mohamed Al Muhairi, Acting Chief of Al Ain Traffic Section, revealed that the section will enhance its traffic patrols across various areas of Al Ain city, as well as on its internal and external roads and inside the city; in order to prevent traffic congestion that may occur due to the high density of vehicles on the roads, reduce negative behaviors by some drivers, and control the roads with high efficiency. He also indicated that traffic patrols will be intensified near prayers areas and touristic sites of Al Ain such as the Green Mubazzarah region, Jebel Hafeet, the Hili Fun City, as well as the residential and commercial areas, gardens, public parks, and other places.

He also called upon motorists and the public to cooperate with traffic patrols’ members and urged them to notify the Operations Room about any traffic law violations committed by traffic offenders.

For his part, Major Suhail Sayah Al Mazrouei, Chief of the Western Region Traffic section, confirmed the section’s readiness for Eid Al-Fitr holidays and to intensify patrols in prayer areas and all areas leading up to the mosques in Liwa, Zayed City, Ghayathi , Al Marfa, Al Ruwais, and Delma Island. He also pointed out to increasing patrols to secure the international road leading up to the border port crossing throughout the day, so as to enhance the safety of road travelers.
