The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi welcomed the summer camp youngsters and accompanying teachers from the Emirates Autism Society as they toured governmental departments and institutions. This visit is part of the society’s recently launched initiative entitled, ‘In the Footsteps of Zayed.’

The initiative aims to emphasize the principles of humanitarian action and societal values that are embedded in the hearts and minds of the people of this beloved country by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It also aims to integrate children with autism and highlight their abilities to make effective contributions within the community.

In his office, Colonel Salim Ali Al Qattam Al Zaabi, Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi, met with Dr. Khawla Al Saadi, Chairman of the Emirates Autism Society; and Salem Ali Al Hosani, Vice Chairman. The children distributed prepaid phone credits to low-income workers with the hope of enabling them to communicate with their loved ones and their families. These actions are to promote stability, harmony, and community support, which exemplify the philanthropic values of the UAE’s founding father, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi presented the participating children with a set of commemorative gifts in a bid to encourage them to continue giving back. He also commended the initiative of the Emirates Autism Society. The initiative emerges from the society’s conviction to work together with partners and various civil society organizations, and to support programs, initiatives and joint projects in accordance with one national system. The society is keen to achieve joint institutional cooperation under the directives of the higher leadership.

For her part, Dr. Khawla Al Saadi, Chairman of the Emirates Autism Society, expressed her happiness for the visit, and for the interactions with the staff and clients of the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department in Abu Dhabi as they corresponded to the initiative of the Emirates Autism Society. The initiative aims to raise the children in accordance with authentic Islamic and Arabic principles and manners, with the overall goal of integrating them into society and aiding them to become beneficial and effective components of their society.
