Abdullah Al Yamahi’s Council Recommends Establishing a Federal Knowledge Authority

During the Ramadan Council, organized by the Law Respect Culture Bureau at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior, participants called for establishing a federal Knowledge authority, and identifying scientifically skilled members of different nationalities in the country, in a bid to benefit from their creativity. The council, which was hosted by Abdullah Al Yamahi in Al Fujairah, also called for developing special knowledge-oriented divisions and departments across the country’s institutions.

Moreover, the council called for motivating students to tap into their energies and setting up academic programs for them at the countrywide level, in a bid to develop their skills and promote their creative experiences. Participants at the council also underlined the importance of the media in its various forms in transferring knowledge and shaping public awareness.

Furthermore, the participants stressed the need to add a knowledge category to awards of esteem and appreciation in the UAE, increase the number of scientific research centers across the country, and encourage researchers and creative people to enroll.

The council, which elaborated on the issue of transferring and taking advantage of knowledge in the development process, was inaugurated by media figure Munzer Al Muzakki. In his speech at the opening of the session, Al Muzakki praised the Ramadan Councils that are organized by the Ministry of Interior, as represented by the Law Respect Culture Bureau; stressing that convening such councils is an opportunity to submit and exchange views and to promote cooperation between the ministry and the various society institutions in the UAE.

Al Muzakki also pointed out that the UAE is forging ahead steadily to support and achieve scientific development, based on a clear vision towards building a knowledge-based economy. He added that the country has several basic components and capabilities on par with advanced international standards.

In his opening speech, Abdullah Khalfan Al Yamahi extended his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for the initiatives launched by the Ministry of Interior. He also praised the idea of Ramadan Councils organized by the MOI in the UAE nationals’ councils across the country.

Furthermore, he noted that the councils play a significantly vital and active role in enhancing communication and convergence between community members during the holy month. “These councils reflect an original approach; and are deeply rooted in the country’s traditions and usages. They have always been a tool to reunite community members of all ages and categories, to discuss issues related to community affairs in all areas,” he said.

Al Yamahi said that the UAE Vision 2021 dedicates significant importance to knowledge and creativity in general, and to knowledge-based economy in particular. “The vision aims to harness the full potential of the National human capital by encouraging Emiratis to make a valuable contribution to the nation’s growth and development, by building their knowledge and applying their talent in the fields of creativity and leadership,” he noted.

Al Yamahi pointed out that the vision also aims to transform the national economy into a  model where growth is driven by knowledge and innovation, as a result of investment in science, technology, research and development throughout the fabric of the UAE economy.

Colonel Ahmed Hamdan Al Zayoudi praised the idea of convening Ramadan councils, organized by the Ministry of Interior, which tackle and address various important topics for the service of the UAE` society.  Al Zayoudi cited the key methods and means used to transfer knowledge, such as getting acquainted with successful experiences in world countries and conveying them accurately in pursuance of the UAE’s strategic goals and plans. He also called upon those who attend training courses abroad to document foreign success stories and transfer them to their colleagues at the workplace.

For his part, Yacoub Ali urged the media to go past the task of reporting news to delivering knowledge and competing in this area. He also called upon educational institutions to go past the indoctrination to cognitive learning, which contributes to the nation`s progress.

Major Fahed Al Hosani elaborated on the MoI`s experience in supporting and sponsoring gifted creative individuals by establishing calculated plans and programs. “The Ministry of Interior has managed to provide a specific mechanism designed to cater for creative and innovative individuals, by enrolling them in annual programs aimed at developing their abilities and skills.”

Colonel Dr. Sulaiman Al Murshidi said: “Our Islamic religion encourages us to acquire various skills and knowledge in all domains.” He also gave an overview of the Malaysian experience in sustainable development and how Malaysia managed, in just a few years, to compete with a large number of robust economies thanks to implementing the appropriate knowledge transfer methodology. Colonel Al Murshidi called for leveraging additional knowledge from across the world, merging it with local knowledge and developing it in a way that serves the UAE society.
