The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Al Ain concluded the second season of the Ramadan competition titled “The Field Challenge”, with the participation of several teams representing Al Ain government institutions and departments. The contest witnessed strong competition between the teams that qualified for the finals, namely; the Al Ain Municipality Team (“Al Wahat”) and Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC) (AinBusokhnah).
In his address on this occasion, Colonel Khalifa Matar Balquba' Al Humairi, Director of the Residency and Foreigners' Affairs Department in Al Ain welcomed the attendees. He praised the response from partners to the department’s initiative in organizing this competition for the second season, which includes participation of Al Ain government departments and institutions. “This first- of-its-kind initiative in the Government sector reflects the department’s belief in the importance of communication with partners at all levels. It also embodies the department’s endeavor to enhance communication and social interaction. This would help staff members lay aside work-related pressures and enjoy good competitiveness and sportsmanship. It also allows each team to provide a model for the resources and knowledge available at their respective departments or institutions,” indicated Colonel Al Humairi, stressing that next year’s challenge will include see more extensive and broader competitions.
He added: “The conclusion of the competition coincided with the ‘Zayed Humanitarian Day’ event, which marks the death anniversary of the UAE’s founding father, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, whose memory continues to remain close to the hearts of the people of the UAE. It is an opportunity to reminisce the achievements of late Sheikh Zayed during this holy month, which represent a role model for us to follow in his footsteps.”
Abdullah Al Shiryani, Customer Service Manager at AADC, indicated that the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Al Ain strives to launch joint initiatives with partners at various levels, out of its awareness of the importance of partnerships and its commitment to working with partners and improving relations with them. “This competition was an opportunity for the departments’ staff members to meet and compete,” he said, stressing the keenness and the desire of AADC to constantly participate and cooperate with Al Ain Residency in all aspects.
Salem Rashid Al Ketbi, Executive Director of Municipal Services expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Al Ain Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department for launching this remarkable initiative. “This competition created an atmosphere of fair competition among Al Ain Government Departments’ teams. It also provided an opportunity for the departments’ staff members to mingle, compete and show an honorable image of their departments. This was reflected in the strong competition and enthusiasm of each team to get to the finals,” pointed out Al Ketbi.
Khalid Hamar Ain, Director of Al Ain Development Department, expressed his wholehearted thanks to Al Ain Residency for this outstanding initiative and excellent organization of the competition and the final ceremony, which reflects the keenness of the department to communicate with partners and work with them to promote services. He also lauded the department’s initiative, which gathered Al Ain Government departments in a competitive platform marked by sportsmanship between various departments’ teams. “That’s exactly what we have witnessed during the course of the competition,” he stressed.
At the end of the ceremony, Colonel Khalifa Al Humairi honored Al Ain Distribution Company’s team for winning this competition and Al Ain Municipality’ team for ranking runner-up. He also honored the directors and representatives of the participating departments, as well as the Etihad Airways, who contributed to offering prizes for the winning team.
The ceremony featured TV documentaries about late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Strong competition took place between AADC (AinBusokhnah) and Al Ain Municipality (Wahat), and ended with the crowning of the AADC team as champion of the competition.
The departments that took part in the competition are: Al Ain Residency and Foreigners Affairs with the team “the Home is United”; Al Ain Labor Office, with the team “The Sea Captain”; Abu Dhabi Quality and Specifications Council with the team “Children of Zayed”; Al Ain Police Directorate with the team “The Falcons”; Dar Zayed for Family Care with the team “The Emblem”; Al Ain Development Department with the team “The Lead”; and Al Ain Municipality with the team (“Al wahat”).
The teams were divided into two groups of four teams. A draw was carried out to determine the pairings between each group.
