Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, recently reviewed the specifications and services provided by a set of new ambulance vehicles that were recently added to the ambulance fleet at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters.
His Highness viewed the equipment and services of the recently inaugurated ambulance vehicles, which offer intensive care and advanced life support for pregnant women, premature infants and newborns and heavyweight patients.
Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterated the higher leadership’s keenness to provide all necessary requirements in order to provide ambulance services to the public. He also called for developing and providing the best ambulance services, rapid response medical treatment to patients' emergencies and to provide Basic Life Support (BLF) during the difficult moments before reaching the hospital.
The new ambulance vehicles’ inauguration ceremony was attended by Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Director General of Finance and Services; Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Human Resources; Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations; Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director General of the Headquarters Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police; Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Colonel Saud Al Saadi, Director of the Secretariat of the Office of HH the Minister; and Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Ibrahim Al Ameri, Director of the Emergency and Public Safety Department at the Abu Dhabi Police; along with a number of officers.
For his part, Major General Al Raisi stressed the police leadership’s keenness to serve the community and to overcome all obstacles facing society segments in need of ambulance services in Abu Dhabi, to meet the needs of the public and minimize response times in order to save their lives.
Major General Al Raisi also indicated that this humanitarian project aims at providing the best ambulance services and facilitating access to necessary and comprehensive medical care to patients. He also noted that the new ambulance vehicles are fitted with pre-hospital devices and offer the unique facilities of a fully equipped mobile clinic with an intensive care unit, so as to provide the best pre-hospital healthcare to patients pending their arrival to the hospital.
For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Al Ameri noted that the new and modern vehicles are ready to provide the best, most-advanced and distinguished ambulance services to the target categories; so as to achieve the police leadership’s vision and the Ministry of Interior’s strategic objectives. This also embodies the UAE government’s future vision in providing distinguished and advanced services to the public in the shortest possible time.
He added: “The diversity of medical cases has prompted the Emergency and Public Safety Department of the Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations Directorate General, to introduce these vehicles, specifically assigned for maternity, childhood and heavyweight people.”
Lieutenant Colonel Al Ameri also explained that the modern ambulance vehicles contain the same equipment used on other vehicles, in addition to technical specifications that take into account cases of patients that require special treatment and care. He pointed out that the vehicles are characterized by the highest levels of safety, security and quality, so as to facilitate the work of paramedics and medical personnel in handling emergency situations.
He added: “The Maternity and Childhood ambulance is specifically equipped to cater to pregnant women, premature infants and newborns. It contains a special bed and a transport infant incubator to tend to mothers and babies. It may be identified thanks to its pink-colored stripes.”
In conclusion, Lieutenant Colonel Al Ameri indicated that the (heavyweight) ambulance with red stripes is fitted with a hydraulic lift and advanced devices to cater to heavyweight persons, whose weight impedes their movement and makes their transfer to hospitals difficult. He advised them to follow proper food diets and physical activities in order to lose weight and lead a normal healthy life.
