Abu Dhabi Police Celebrates Family Day

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, June 5th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

Marking the Family Day, the Cultural and Social Activity Section at the Clubs Department, Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent, the Emirates Heritage Club and the Al Ikhlas Private School in Bani Yas, organized a celebration under the slogan “My Family…My Kingdom.” The event was held at the theatre hall of the Abu Dhabi Officers’ Club in Abu Dhabi.

Present at the event were Captain Yaaqoub Yusuf Al Hammadi, Social Events Branch Manager at the Clubs Department; Saeed Ali Al Mana’i, Head of Events Department at the Emirates Heritage Club; Sarah Al Humairi, Head of Volunteers Department, Emirates Red Crescent- Abu Dhabi; Suha Riadh, Manager of the Al Ikhlas Private School; Afaf Al Mansouri, Head of Activities and Events, Al Ikhlas Private School; and a number of families.

Captain Al Hammadi said: “Organizing this event falls under the police social responsibility and its efforts to get involved with the society in activities and events to achieve the community police concept. This celebration was organized under the directives of the police commandment. The event included many activities, such as cultural and entertainment competitions; traditional meals presented by the Emirates Heritage Club; and traditional handcrafts. Students from Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs, Abu Dhabi Club for Special Needs and Al Ikhlas Private School took part in the celebrations.”

The celebration started with the UAE National Anthem. After that the audience watched a documentary film on the achievements of the Emirates Red Crescent since its start, and its role in consolidating the concept of voluntary work.

Sarah Al Humairi, Head of Volunteers Department, Emirates Red Crescent, delivered a speech, in which she stressed the efforts of the higher leadership to providing all kinds of care and moral and physical support all family members in the local society, with the aim to build good individuals that are able to participate in the development process of the country.

She said: “Within its social responsibility efforts, the Emirates Red Crescent is keen to document human relations among family members and execute distinguished humanitarian and charity programs that spread family cooperation spirit among all society members.”

The celebration comprised of many activities, including poems expressing the Family Day. A number of Al Ikhlas Private School performed a traditional dance titled “inshallah ya biladi.” A group from Emirates Heritage Club performed Harbiya and Yola dances, while members of the Security Inspection Department (K9) delivered a police dog show that entertained the audience.

At the conclusion, the participating entities were honored, together with the winners from the Abu Dhabi Club for Special Needs and the attending children.
