Abu Dhabi Community Police Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, recently participated in the public majlis held at the home of citizen Suhail Khalifa Al Marar in Khalifa City A in Abu Dhabi, with a view to discuss a number of social issues and topics of interest to the country and citizens and provide the appropriate suggestions, opinions and solutions. The majlis was attended by Brigadier Mohammed Khalifa Al Marar, Director General of Undersecretary Diwan at the Ministry of Interior, along with a number of officials, citizens and officers from the Community Police Department.
Suahil Al Marar welcomed the attendees and the participants to the majlis, stressing that the majlis tradition across the UAE has contributed significantly to deepening ties among UAE citizens. He also lauded their role in boosting relations between all members of the community.
Major Abdulla Mohammed Al Harithi, Chief of Community Police Affairs for Peripheral Regions Section, spoke about the history of the Community Police, its role, tasks and duties it carries out for the service of the community, as well as its key goals. He also highlighted the efforts of the Community Police to communicate with community members, its methods for dealing with the different segments, classes and nationalities of the community, the nature of work of the Community Police foot patrols that interact with the various nationalities across different parts of Abu Dhabi. He also tackled the relation between the Community Police and its strategic partners, whether from the local government or businesses, as well as community members, who cooperate through the various initiatives to serve residents in the residential areas under their jurisdiction; in addition to the vision of the Abu Dhabi police officials to develop the Community Police’s work.
Lt. Colonel Jamal Al Ameri, Chief of Public Relations Section in the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, Abu Dhabi Police, also attended the majlis. He highlighted the efforts exerted to raise awareness of community members about the dangers of accidents and traffic violations, especially overtaking on the hard shoulder of the road and the associated risks. He also spoke of the electronic monitoring devices (radars) and their role in reducing over-speeding violations on the road. He mentioned the “CityGuard” application and its importance in preserving national gains achieved by the country in all fields.
At the end of the meeting, the floor was opened for discussions, suggestions, and solutions regarding the topics discussed. Suhail Al Marar suggested distributing the relevant phone numbers to community members wishing to communicate with the Community Police; another participant suggested closing the narrow passageways between houses in residential areas.
