Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior attended on Tuesday, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Brighton College School. The MoU aims to promote the common objectives of the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program “Aqdar”, which was launched by the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and includes about 50 ministries and federal and local authorities.
The MoU was signed at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters and witnessed by His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Minister of Education. The agreement was signed by Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior, on behalf of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior (as the First Party) and by H.E Jawaan Awaidha Suhail Al Khaili, Chairman of the Board, on behalf of Brighton College School (as the Second Party).
HH Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed stressed the importance of joining and boosting efforts to protect the nation and society against all potential challenges, especially those faced by the younger generations, who represent the pillar of the future and the real wealth in the efforts to maintain the national gains. Furthermore, His Highness pointed out that all eyes are on the local community’s behavior in order to understand our authentic civilization and how it manages to keep pace with modernity and openness towards others.
The MoU aims to unify and support the common national efforts to achieve and promote the goals and strengthen efficient communication between the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program “Aqdar” and Brighton College School (both Abu Dhabi and Al Ain branches).
According to the MoU, the First Party shall provide the Second Party with the complete curriculum of the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program “Aqdar”. Moreover, the First Party shall train, qualify and acquaint relevant educational and administrative staff at Brighton College (in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain) with the goals, targets and work mechanisms of the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program “Aqdar”. The program will also contribute in assessing the implemented awareness-raising and preventive programs and evaluating their results in order to allow participation in local and international awards, as well as in the various activities carried out by the Second Party, and supporting this participation with all available means.
By virtue of the MoU, the Second Party shall provide the First Party with the annual action plan for preventive and awareness programs, so as to achieve integration between both parties and the target group. The Second Party shall also invite the First Party to participate in the various activities and events, as well as establish mechanisms of cooperation and integration, in accordance with the objectives of both parties. According to the MoU, the Second Party shall invite the First Party to mutual periodic meetings to unify the awareness and guidance content targeting the students’ category; as well as to identify the latest mechanisms and the means to include them in the awareness-raising and prevention projects.
The Khalifa Student Empowerment Program “Aqdar” lauded the keenness to link the objectives and to enhance cooperation with various state institutions, with a view to mainstreaming community services provided to the public and promoting students’ empowerment within society.
The signing ceremony was attended by Marwan Ahmed Al Sawaleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education; Amal Mohammed Al Kous, Assistant Undersecretary for the School Environment and Activities Sector at the Ministry of Education; Major General Dr. Abdul Quddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Director General of Total Quality at Dubai Police; and Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director General of the Headquarters Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police. Also attending were Colonel Expert Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Al Dabal, General Coordinator of the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program; Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of School Operations at the Abu Dhabi Education Council; as well as a number of officials, senior officers, members of the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program and members of the administrative and educational staff at Brighton College school.
It is worth mentioning that the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program’s concept was part of an initiative launched by the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, which stipulated that a national program should be prepared to raise awareness among students, covering all academic levels and addressing the most common problems that may be encountered by students. The program involves all state institutions, through coordination with existing awareness programs.
