The Ministry of Interior earned the lion's share of the honors by winning 16 awards and medals at the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award in its third session. The awards ceremony, which was organized by the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, who attended the event on Wednesday afternoon at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
The Ministry of Interior bagged the following awards: in the award’s main category for the Distinguished Federal Entity (Ministries with more than 900 employees) and the Distinguished Federal Department, the award went to the Ajman Police General Headquarters; for the Distinguished Federal Zone / Office, the award went to the Sharjah Security Zone. In the award’s sub-categories, for the Distinguished Federal Entity according to the excellence criterion, the Ministry of Interior won the Distinguished Federal Entity in Leadership and the Distinguished Federal Entity in Human Resources. In the Best Practice category, the ministry won the Distinguished Federal Entity in performance management, electronic excellence, creativity, green applications, and government communication. In the Distinguished Work Teams category, the MoI won the Distinguished Internal Performance Improvement Team and the Distinguished Services Development Team Awards.
The MoI also won 4 Medals as follows: the Prime Minister's Medal for Supervisory Employees, received by Brigadier General Dr. Abdullah bin Sahoo Al Suwaidi, Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Sharjah; the Prime Minister's Medal for Specialized Employees received by Lt. Colonel Dr. Sarhan Hassan Al Mouini; the Prime Minister’s Medal for Administrative Employees, received by First Lieutenant Amina Yusuf Al Naqbi; and the Prime Minister’s Medal for Customer Service Employees, received by Sergeant Khalil Mohammed Al Hosani.
The awards ceremony was attended by Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior; HE Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Police and General Security; Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior for Resources and Support Services; Major General Sheikh Taleb bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police; as well as police commanders, Directors-General, and a number of senior police officers.
Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior, emphasized that the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award in its 3rd edition, contributes to developing the Government Sector’s performance, engaging the country’s human resources and spreading the culture of creativity, loyalty, and excellence amongst all employees of the Government Sector. He pointed that the award has supported government entities in their quest to deliver efficient solutions and to improve performance by leveraging local and international experiences.
He said that the multiple awards won by the Ministry of Interior, mainly the Distinguished Federal Entity Award (Ministries with more than 900 employees) and the Prime Minister Medals; represent a major achievement, which will be added to the myriad achievements made by the ministry in its endeavor towards government excellence. He explained that the ministry has continuously strived to spread the culture of quality and excellence through several mechanisms amongst its staff members, and across all levels of command and departments in the country. “The Ministry of Interior was keen to enroll its staff members in workshops to acquaint them with the latest successive developments in the field of corporate excellence field, and to familiarize them with the leading regional and international experiences in the field, which directly contributed in enhancing their abilities and allowing them to unleash their creative potential and skills,” he continued.
Lt. General Al Sha’far added that achieving this epic win was a result of the direct support and attention dedicated by Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to the work teams. He pointed that His Highness has had a great role in this achievement through his continuous instructions to the Ministry of Interior’s staff members, to implement the innovative ideas, which help promote strategic and development efforts to elevate police and security work to highest possible levels. “His Highness has always instructed police commanders across the country on the need to make achievements that comply with the standards of quality and excellence, in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy, which aims to develop services and upgrade them according to international best standards, to achieve customer satisfaction and increase their confidence in the level of services provided to them,” he added.
Lt. General Al Sha’far emphasized the need to focus significantly on intensifying efforts and enhancing capabilities to maintain the achievements and move forward on the path of development and progress, to fulfill the vision of the higher leadership for the future of the country. “The Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award was created to inculcate the culture of excellence and develop administrative thought on both procedure and practical levels, to confer a single unified identity to different institutions and entities in the federal government, which is characterized by efficiency and excellence,” he concluded.
The Excellence Journey For his part, Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, attributed the epic achievement made by the ministry by winning 16 awards and medals to the directives of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. “His Highness has always been a fervent advocate of the excellence journey at the ministry, which he helped to achieve important quantum leaps in the strategic development process, towards the main objective, the permanent modernization of strategic plans,” added Major General Al Nuaimi. Furthermore, Major General Al Nuaimi stressed the higher leadership’s keenness and commitment to achieve excellence and superiority and to maintain the achievements accomplished during the security and safety journey. “The Ministry of Interior exerts unwavering efforts to achieve the aspirations through its strategic vision, which focuses on working efficiently, to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world in terms of safety and security,” pointed out Major General Al Nuaimi.

He also noted that the Ministry of Interior has launched and carried out strategic change programs in police work that personify its intrinsic values, namely; truth, fairness, justice, human rights, leadership, teamwork, innovation and excellence.
He added that the ministry’s outstanding performance was achieved based on the standards of excellence. “The police leadership has established the pillars of strategic planning at the ministry and gave its instructions to constantly upgrade it, commensurate with the evolution and development that the UAE is witnessing, which is reflected clearly in the countless successes on the local and international levels,” said Major General Al Nuaimi. In conclusion, he expressed his hopes for further achievements and urged work teams to pursue the efforts to maintain the advanced level in the excellence and leadership journey.
