Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Friday, May 9th 2014
The profound love and respect for the generous country and the deep sense of belonging to the bountiful land have prompted the sons and daughters of the UAE to make distinguished and innovative achievements to express this love. Many young men and women have gone down in history through their inventions or prestigious achievements that elevated the name of UAE in international forums.
Driven by this spirit, and just like his young Emirati peers, who are passionately loyal to their country, a Community Police volunteer has managed to customize a bicycle with special features to enhance the efficiency of police work and boost the public’s confidence in the police force, which gave humanitarian dimensions to its public service mission supported by a national strategy.
Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, examined the new custom designed bicycle invented by 21-year old Trainee Pilot Hamad Mohammad Al Tai'e, which includes a combination of special technical features that enhance the bicycle’s efficiency, and make it suitable for use by police officers, in residential neighborhoods and touristic areas and during social events.
During a meeting with Community Police volunteers at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, His Highness Sheikh Saif hailed the efforts and achievements of the young volunteer. He also praised the scientific skills and education of Al Tai’e and encouraged him to exert further efforts in areas of volunteer work and innovation for the service of the country and the community.
It is also worth mentioning that there is a total of 120 male and female Emirati and expatriate Community Police volunteers. Under the supervision of Abu Dhabi’s Community Police, they have participated in organizing a number of exhibitions, conferences, forums and awareness campaigns, where they committed more than 1,000 hour of voluntary police work.
Al Tai’e, one of the first Community Police volunteers, explained the characteristics of the new custom design bicycle and its extra equipment that contribute to enhancing its efficiency in police work. He mentioned that he added new technical features to the bicycle’s main frame including electronic devices such as a video camera, a GPS, as well as a computer to collect, send data and record reports like the “black box” of an airplane.
Al Tai’e, a trainee pilot at Etihad Airways, noted that the bicycle is also provided with a modern police light and siren, hydraulic breaks, and an air container to inflate the tires within a few seconds.
He added that the bicycle needs 2 to 3 weeks time to be fully equipped, as all fixtures are installed manually.
Al Tai’e, an aeronautics student, stated that the bicycle has many specifications. It is painted with the same color scheme as Abu Dhabi Police patrol cars, with the word (Police) plastered on the frame in Arabic and English, alongside the emergency number (999) and the official Abu Dhabi Police website.
Al Tai’e, who confessed to being a huge fan of bicycles since childhood, indicated that the bicycle will feature the highest safety standards and public safety requirements, as well as a helmet to prevent head injuries, and a large satchel to store a first aid kit, police reports, and other police-related equipment.
In conclusion, Al Tai’e noted that his bicycle, despite its exceptional features, is environment friendly. He reiterated its many benefits, as it provides users with fitness and high stamina, enhances the muscles and body functions and allows users to fulfill their assigned tasks in the best way possible.
