The Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Forensic Evidence Department, at the Directorate General of Security and Ports Affairs, discussed scientific cooperation with the Henry Lee Institute at the University of New Haven.
Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, Head of the Forensic Evidence Department, recently met in his office, Professor Henry Lee, the US Forensic expert. The two sides discussed all aspects of cooperation in areas of specialized training in criminal sciences.
Professor Henry gave an overview on the scientific capabilities of the Henry Lee Institute at the University of New Haven, as well as the programs of preparing experts and the system of adopting academic programs including diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
They also discussed during the meeting the possibilities of establishing a research center for forensic evidence, and dispatching high school graduates to study Forensic Sciences in the institute, in addition to preparing a training plan to hold scientific courses and seminars tackling various forensic sciences.
Moreover, Professor Henry Lee delivered a lecture in the Forensic Evidence Hall at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters. The lecture was on crime scenes and the required scientific skills and experiences to be inspected scientifically, and on collecting evidences to analyze them in forensic laboratories.
For his part, First Lieutenant Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Strategic Planning Branch Manager, indicated that the lecture that was attended by heads of departments and forensic labs experts addressed the recent information on the types of evidence and how to link evidences to the events that happened in the crime scene; and the role of the criminal expert and crime scene examiners in the crime scene.
It is worth mentioning that Professor Henry Lee is the first among the world’s best twenty criminal experts, and many countries seek his help in order to clarify ambiguity of some criminal cases. He also works as a criminal advisor in many countries.
