The Police Follow-up Department, at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior, urged its staff members to apply the basic principles of organizational excellence during the inaugural specialized workshop that was recently organized in Abu Dhabi.
Lieutenant Colonel Saif Obaid Al Khaili, Head of the Police Follow-up Department indicated that the workshop, titled “The journey of organizational excellence”, is in pursuance of the police leadership’s directives, and comes in line with the department’s commitment to update the work strategy, so as to keep pace with the needs and expectations of both employees and customers. He explained that throughout the three-day training, the department’s tasks and activities were reviewed according to the European Excellence model (EFQM), to upgrade the department’s duties that are related to traffic points and police follow-up, in accordance with international best practices. The workshop was attended by chiefs of sections and a number of officers and civilian members of the department.
Lieutenant Colonel Al Khaili stressed the department’s keenness to implement the best practices in order to achieve excellence in the performance of duties and to ensure that its initiatives, related to employees, customers, and partners, achieve the leadership’s aspirations and are in line with the strategic objectives.
He also noted that the workshop was conducted based on an approach that allowed distinguished interaction between participants and the lecturer. It also shed light on the relationship between the concepts and standards of excellence and between the department’s functions, regulatory laws. “This would help us understand the benefits of achieving sustainable excellence as an important asset for the department’s various activities and tasks; and will ultimately be the followed by similar practical measures,” he said.
Lieutenant Colonel Al Khaili expressed his thanks to the Training Department at Abu Dhabi Police’s Human Resource Directorate General, for their outstanding efforts to provide specialized training courses, by resorting qualified lecturers to add value to the training benefits.
“The department seeks to provide training programs through its partners to those involved in traffic points and police surveillance. This aims to achieve the desired effect sought by training and development, and contributes to achieving the leadership’s vision by activating the traffic points program and electronic surveillance,” he added.
Lieutenant Colonel Al Khaili also noted that the Police Follow-up Department’s work mechanism is an innovative concept, touted as the first of its kind in the Middle East. Therefore, the higher leadership strives diligently to ensure that the tasks and duties stand out, in terms of continuous planning, implementation, follow-up, evaluation, and continuous to achieve the coveted aspirations.
In conclusion, Lieutenant Colonel Al Khaili said: “The UAE endeavors to stand out from the crowd as one of the best countries in the world in the leadership for global competitiveness.
