Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, April 5th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
The Mobile Dental Care Unit’s medical staff at Abu Dhabi Police conducted dental check-ups for as many as 459 workers at the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) in Musaffah. This initiative aims to identify workers’ dental condition, and educate them on the proper methods of good oral health and dental hygiene, and encourage them to undergo such tests regularly.
Major Mohammed Abdullah Al Raisi, Orthodontist; Dental Clinics Branch Manager at the Medical Services Department of Abu Dhabi Police, noted that the workers benefited from the Mobile Dental Care Unit’s services, which is fitted with the necessary equipment to conduct an initial oral exam of the gums and teeth. “This check-up allows dentists to detect early signs of decay, infection or even oral cancer, given that ‘a healthy mouth and healthy body go hand in hand,” stressed Major Al Raisi.
“The medical staff offered medical advice to the workers about caring for their teeth and gums. Free samples of antiseptic mouthwash and toothbrushes were distributed to each worker. They were also educated on the proper brushing means, which can help to treat gum infections, reduce tooth decay, and prevent bad breath, because they contain fluoride,” indicated Major Al Raisi
Adding further, Major Al Raisi said: “This distinguished service allows access to workers in their place of residence, so as to help them maintain their oral health and hygiene, and save them time and effort.” The Mobile Dental Care Unit, which is fitted with the necessary equipment for dental screening and diagnosis, has been provided for ICAD workers, in a gesture that reflects the civilized image of the UAE and its humanitarian approach in dealing with this segment of society, which is offered the necessary care and attention.
In conclusion, he stressed that the services provided by the unit enhance the services offered by the Abu Dhabi Police to community members and its efforts to provide them with the best medical services. This approach supports the Abu Dhabi Government’s efforts to improve the quality of medical services and allow citizens and residents easy access to these services from their preferred locations.
The Mobile Dental Unit operates in two shifts, morning and evening. The dental staff handles screening services and treatment for patients; while the administrative staff streamlines and manages the service provision procedures, and assesses patients’ experience with a view to improve performance indicators. The medical team is qualified to deal with different age groups and health conditions through a dental surveying program, to identify the dental condition of individuals. It is also designed to provide easy access to dental care to all community members wherever they are, at schools, care and rehabilitation centers for people with special needs, elderly nursing homes, or any other location.
