The Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, represented by the Cultural and Social activities Section at the Police Officers’ Clubs Department recently launched the “Friends of the Police” Program in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi for the children of officers, non-commissioned officers, civilians working at the Ministry of Interior and the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ and retired officers. A total of 107 male and female students (58 officers’ children from Abu Dhabi aged between 7 and 14 years and 49 students of different age groups from Al Ain) took part in the program, which is taking place during the second semester vacation of the year 2013-2014,
This program, which runs until April 10, aims to fill the officers' children's leisure time during the vacation with useful religious, educational and societal guidance, as well as recreational and sports activities.
The second semester vacation program in Abu Dhabi featured thrilling extreme sports, including second skill level horse riding t the Baniyas Equestrian Centre, as well as football and recreational and field trips to the various departments and sections of the Ministry of Interior and the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ.
The officers’ sons and daughters visited the Baniyas Equestrian Centre, where they took horse riding lessons and learned how to handle and care for horses. They also took part in football tournaments at the Abu Dhabi Police Officers’ Club.
In the city of Al Ain, Colonel Hareb Khamis Al Khaili, Deputy Head of the Clubs Department at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ and Director of Al Ain Police Officers Club stressed that the quarterly program aims to familiarize students with their parents’ work environment and their duties in serving and protecting society. “It also intends to encourage them to be creative and innovative in their daily life,” said Colonel Al Khaili.
He added: “The program includes a number of physical, social, sports and recreational activities, such as competitions, games, leisure and religious seminars, as well as a number of visits and excursions to the Zoo, Al Ain Museum, Al Bada and the Palm Resorts. It also features several events, programs and visits to different police stations and departments to see police work being conducted.”
Colonel Al Khaili indicated that all of the club facilities have been prepared to receive the children and provide them with suitable services to maintain their safety. “Participation was expanded to include female students, so as to enable them to benefit from the program and its events. Many contests were prepared and prizes were allocated to choose outstanding participants in each activity and event, with a view to promote fair competition and fun among participants,” emphasized Colonel Al Khaili.
At the end of his speech, Colonel Al Khaili encouraged parents to enroll their children in centers and clubs that provide useful and constructive programs and activities during school holidays, to encourage them to enhance their skills and potential, and raise their awareness by acquainting them with the optimal and efficient use of modern technologies. In conclusion, Colonel Al Khaili said that the various police departments strive relentlessly to ensure children’s comfort and service.
