Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor and Vice Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior inaugurated the activities of the International Exhibition for Security and National Resilience (ISNR Abu Dhabi 2014) on Tuesday morning. Organized by the Ministry of Interior in collaboration with REED Exhibitions- Middle East, the ISNR Abu Dhabi 2014 will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Center (ADNEC) from April 1st to April 3rd.
In his statement marking the occasion, Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior said that organizing the International Exhibition for Security and National Resilience (ISNR Abu Dhabi 2014) in its sixth edition embodies the higher leadership’s commitment to providing the best security and safety opportunities and requirements to community members and protect them against any kind of threats. HH Sheikh Saif reasserted that the Exhibition is a valuable opportunity for the region’s governments and private sector institutions concerned with security and safety to meet and exchange expertise with the participating delegations and exhibiting companies. They can also familiarize themselves with the latest international technological systems and specialized equipment for security, safety, crime fighting, and prevention.
H.H Sheikh Saif said: “Our national authorities have acquired a wide and accumulated experience in organizing specialized global exhibitions based on international standards. Inspired by the directions of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; and the vigilant follow-up of General H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, our national authorities are consistently seeking to make further epic international achievements in this field.”

Furthermore, H.H Sheikh Saif stressed that the UAE is touted as one of the safest countries in the world. “This requires that we all toil diligently and persistently together, as individuals and institutions, to maintain our nation’s security and stability, and protect the national gains that we have achieved in all fields,” added H.H Sheikh Saif.
H.H Sheikh Saif also expressed his hope that the International Exhibition for Security and National Resilience (ISNR Abu Dhabi 2014) will achieves its intended goals to foster collaboration and coordination among world governments in the policing and security fields, and fulfill their aspirations of facing security challenges in a world of incessant and accelerating change that requires more joint collaboration to face emerging security challenges. H.H Sheikh Saif wished the esteemed guests a pleasant stay in their second country, the United Arab Emirates, and expressed his hope that they achieve the best benefits and interests from the Exhibition and the Conference.
The official opening ceremony began with the UAE National Anthem, which was also performed in sign language by a group of children with special needs. The ceremony was attended by Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior; Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Major General Staff Dr. Obeid Al Ketbi, Chairman of the ISNR’s Higher Organizing Committee; Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Director General of Finance and Services; Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police; Major General Humaid Al Hadidi, Commander in Chief of Sharjah Police; and a number of police chiefs and senior officers from the Ministry of Interior.
The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, the first woman to be elected to the position of First Deputy speaker of the Federal National Council, a number of ministers and senior officials, in addition to delegations of the participating countries in the Exhibition and the International Conference on Security Challenges (ICSC), and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the UAE.
The Aftershock Life Demonstration
H.H Sheikh Saif attended the “Aftershock” live demonstration on responding to crises and emergencies, which aims to introduce a uniform structure in emergency response and public safety readiness during a major crisis.
This one-of-a-kind event aims to educate community members on how to prepare and respond appropriately to a natural disaster and in an emergency.
The 40-minute “Aftershock” live demonstration featured a simulation show on the readiness of the MoI’s various units, including the police, special task forces, civil defense members, and the operations centers in dealing with crisis and disasters that may affect modern cities. The demonstration also highlighted the appropriate procedures required to provide immediate response and rapidly contain the situation on the ground, by handling panicked residents and helping them recover normal daily life. The demonstration witnessed a significant media attendance from local, regional, and international agencies.
The demonstration showcased the coordinated approach and uniform structure adopted by the MoI’s security units and the joint collaboration and coordination between the operations center and personnel working on site, (police officers, civil defense members, security media, and special tasks forces) in emergency response. It reflected the readiness of all these entities and their efforts to maintain public safety during major crises and disasters, as well as the speed, efficiency, and team work spirit while rescuing the injured, in addition to the ability of calming people and controlling the situation to avoid damages.
A Tour in the Exhibition
H.H Sheikh Saif, accompanied by a number of senior officials and VIPs, toured the exhibition’s various pavilions and chatted with exhibitors. He also visited the national exhibiting companies’ pavilions and listened to a detailed overview from officials at Etisalat, as well as Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), who briefed His Highness on the company’s contingency plans and prevention tactics in cases of oil leaks. H.H Sheikh Saif was also briefed on the efforts and preparations of the Emirati participants in the UAE International Firefighter Challenge, from the Police Schools.
Towards the end of the tour, H.H Sheikh Saif expressed his admiration of the modern security and safety devices, equipment, and technologies displayed by the exhibiting companies. He also praised the large visitors’ turnout.
It is worth mentioning that the 6th edition of ISNR includes various pavilions that are specialized with national security and resilience, information security, and critical facilities security. Additionally, the exhibition includes two specialized exhibitions namely: Fire & Emergency Middle East (FEME), and Occupational Safety and Health Middle East (OSH ME), with the attendance and participation of hundreds of exhibitors and the best experts specializing in the fields of security, safety and emergency from governmental and semi-governmental entities, as well as private sectors.

The Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H. Security Media Drone Draws Visitor Attention
The Security Media aircraft was highly acclaimed by visitors of the International Security and National Resilience Exhibition “ISNR Abu Dhabi 2014” wishing to learn about the unmanned wireless drone for aerial photography that was put into service in 2010. It was touted as a quantum leap in the security media work, as it helped in reporting events in hard to reach areas, as well as filming traffic accidents, fires and major events with high precision.
The drone provides live broadcast pictures via a specialized system linked to the security media patrols, which broadcasts directly to the Operations Room. It keeps leaders abreast of the events as they develop and allows them to make the proper decisions. It is also used to monitor traffic on the emirate’s roads, and is fitted with a remote control, a camera, and high-quality technologies to film any incident, day and night with high accuracy. It has a storage capacity to save photographs and videos that can be easily retrieved when needed.
Captain Jamal Al Hosani, Chief of Technical Affairs Section at the General Secretariat of the Office of H. H. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior said that the project personifies the police leadership’s vision, which calls for leveraging modern technology to improve the capabilities and skills of police personnel working in the media, and enhance security and stability using the latest cutting-edge methods, as well as promote police work in a way that aligns with the UAE government’s vision
Captain Al Hosani noted that the drone is a new addition to the Security Media Department’s work methodology, which focuses on leveraging modern devices and techniques, as well as the “security media patrols”, to establish the MoI’s methodology. This would promote the ministry’s media message transparency and facilitate the work of media outlets, by providing them with images and videos of the events that are related to their field of work, in a way that maintains the safety of cameramen.
Captain Al Hosani added: “The wireless drone, in addition to the security media patrols, helps in developing the Ministry of Interior’s media approach, as well as in documenting security-related events. It also provides support to the various media outlets by focusing on the quality of the filmed material, based on the latest technological and human resources. It also supports media coverage of police events by providing media outlets with more inclusive and faster picture and video material.”
In conclusion, Captain Al Hosani noted that the drone helps to shed light on the humanitarian and social sides of police work, and the ministry’s commitment to transparency and openness, and reflects the ministry’s firm belief in the right of media outlets and the public to be informed.

Significant Media Presence
The International Security and National Resilience Exhibition “ISNR Abu Dhabi 2014” witnessed significant media attendance. More than 200 media representatives were present to cover the events, from various local, Arab and international print, TV and radio media. A media center equipped with modern technological devices was provided to facilitate the work of media representatives, with a view to highlight the event in a way that befits the UAE’s prestigious position and reputation in organizing exhibitions and conferences.
