ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, March 9th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
The Community Police Department at Abu Dhabi Police recently organized the first Voluntary Work Forum, at the Abu Dhabi Police Officers Club. 50 male and female volunteers from different youth segments in Abu Dhabi participated.
Lt. Colonel Mubarak Bin Muhairom, Head of the Community Police Department at Abu Dhabi Police, said that organizing the forum falls in line with the department’s plan to support the field work of community police through volunteers who contribute their efforts and experiences in serving the community and knowing and benefitting from their suggestions and opinions in protecting the society from crime. This should be done to reduce their occurrence, and promote the process of security and stability among the public, especially in residential neighborhoods; and events involving the Abu Dhabi Police.
The Voluntary Work Forum started with an introductory speech by Major Bahyan Ham Al Ameri, Head of the Community Police Affairs Department, in which he explained the goal behind organizing the forum and the actions to be taken; as well as listing the actions that a volunteer can take and how they can provide services to their community through voluntary work.
For his part, Captain Hameed Ghadeer Al Dir’e, Chief of Community Awareness Section, explained that the role of volunteers in raising awareness is focused on them doing administrative work and delivering awareness programs, as well as participating in events and presenting a good image of police institutions.
A number of suggestions by participants were presented at the forum, such as the wish of volunteers to increase their voluntary service working hours and diversify the activities in which they serve. These suggestions were well received and acknowledged by the officials.
The volunteers expressed their willingness to appear in a documentary about the Community Police in order to have active presence in community activities. Mohammed Al Hallaq, Media Coordinator, provided pieces of information about the documentary which is being produced by the Community Police. He clarified the goal and components of the documentary and the roles they will play in the documentary.
At the end of the forum, Major Bahyan Al Ameri announced ways to participate at the International Exhibition for Security and National Resilience (ISNR), which will be held in April in Abu Dhabi.
